Well, some Christians may say it is a sin, but aside from that, the reason you probably have a feeling of guilt when you masturbate is because it's a taboo topic in our society, so people tend to associate it with something 'bad' in their minds. There's really nothing wrong with it, really, the semen is going tocome out one way or another, so there's nothing wrong with doing it in a way which will help you clean it out and maintain a halthy sex drive. Just don't let it get out of hand.

Well back when christianity started sex was meant for children only and so masterbating was bad then cuz it was waisting ur "seed" now it's a bit different but the church will still teach against it. As far as wether it's a sin or not u need to know what ur doing is wrong for it to be sin. If u feel guilty either deal with it or stop those are really ur only options

Some say it's a sin, but in reality, would God [well im not Christian, but that's beside the point lol] really send about 98ish % of men to hell for sexually pleasuring themselves? [And also keeping them from having early sex!]
Doubtful.
Animals masturbate, babies masturbate, adults masturbate, girls masturbate, teens masturbate, parents masturbate, teachers masturbate. It's all normal. You have nothing, really, to feel guilt about.

Don't worry about it kid, everyone masturbates. Nothing's going to happen, surely God is more forgiving than that.

i don't have a christian background but from what you describe it sounds like you feel guilty because sub-consciously you feel it is bad to do it. i felt the same when i first started masturbating, that it was wrong and that boys aren't supposed to play with their 'bits'. Also, i didn't think anyone else was doing it at the time. it is perfectly normal to it as hormones are going crazy and therefore masturbation is the perfect way to release the built up tension ;)

Wow...animals? Babies? How does that work lol.

Anyway, there is also a biological reason for this guilt. After you orgasm, a certain hormone spreads thru ur body. This hormone has a calming/tiring effect, which is why jacking off helps u fall asleep. The hormone also makes u feel guilty and even disgusted at what you have just done (mainly because society frowns upon masturbation)

But in short, it's perfectly normal.

There is nothing to be guilty of, unless you are Christians. Because they do see it as a sin. But its probably just a thing. Don't worry about it!

Please find my treads. I think I have posted so many treads about masterbation it isn't funny. Masterabation is a sin and should be avoided. Get your mind out of pornography and sex. Do not listen to media and telivision. If you feel guilty after masterbation, it is because you have a conscience and it is telling you that you have offended God. Do not get me wrong for I am guilty of masterbation as well. The point is you do not want it to control your life. You have way better things do to than jack off. You are a child of God and he will forgive your sins no matter how big it is. Do not loose hope.. you will fail but never stop standing up on your own two feet. Avoid the trash of internet and you will be just fine. Do not feel too guilty for you are still young and your hormones maybe out of control But remember...you are in command.

Whatever you say, masturbation isn't mentioned or implied in the bible.
Technically, natrually your body has a coping mechanism to no masturbation and those are Nocturnal Emissions.

Regardless of your religion, I say go for it.

Jack now, repent later! :P

I think it is a sin. Or maybe only if you do it a lot. I also used to feel guilty about it, but I donīt now. Only sometimes.

Animals masturbate, babies masturbate,

and i don't think it is a sin, if it was god would of made it harder for you to do it, although i'm not religious

Mkay just to clear it up lol.
When babies are born, many play with their genitals, thus masturbate. They rarely do it as we do today, but it is show they do do it. As for animals, they also do. Monkeys for instance, are known for it, but I'm sure many other animals do as well.

what makes an action a sin? If a person knows that he should not be doing it...and he is aware of that and he still masterbate, then by doing it, he committed a sin. Babies and animals are not aware that it is a sin, so they are not guilty.

I suppose everyone is entitled to their opinion, but it's just so hard taking advice about virtue from someone with an avatar that's basically 1/2 nude.

No one really know what the Almighty really want us to do, regardless of your religion. No one has actually spoken to Him, so everything you hear is the result of individual interpretation and Faith. And although it's hard to be a person of Faith and Conscience and dismiss the interpretations/exaltations of those with some self proclaimed moral authority. Remember that all interpretations on these matters are individual, God hasn't spoken to anyone else about these matters, which means you shouldn't necessrily discount your own interpretation.

That said, let me point out that everyone masturbates, it's a normal, healthy function that is totally driven by biology, the sex drive, which we have no control over. It's like sweating on a hot day, it's built into us, and we cannot (nor should we try) to turn it off. Rather, it's more important to accept it and accomodate to it's strength, learn how to modulate and control and accept it so it doesn't interfere with your other responsibilities. As long as it's not, then you're fine.

I think many people feel guilty about masturbation b/c 1) It's a new thing, and it takes a while to get comfortable with newness, and 2) no one talks much about it, so there's something forbidden about it as a result. So, you get something new, that no one talks about or otherwise gives you permission to do, and you feel that it's 'wrong', you've been taught not to keep secrets and not do things w/o permission. But, the underlying thing you're doing, the masturbation, is perfectly normal and entirely biological.

I get that, i don't think it's the feeling of guilty, but the brain calming down, letting all the endorphines dye out... If you get what i mean. So, it is just a feeling we assosiate with guiltiness. As feeling guilty is usually when you have realised somthing after a large event, basically the endorphines are dying out. Pm me if you don't have a clue what i'm saying. lol

Ahhh well dan has the answer here :)

It is biological, and to do with hormones (although not endorphines in this case), the hormones like vassopressin which are hormones that contribute to sexual arousal.
After their concenration drops we go into a "refractory period" which is the time where we feel the least aroused due to their being the least amount of these hormones in the blood stream. Thus any sort of idea of sexual contact cause feelings of at least indifference if not disgust in the majority of people, hence why on completing a sexual action we feel guilty. Its really normal don't worry.

You still want to do it again after a short while, so just carry on. I assure you it won't harm you unless you are some ridiculously extreme case of a sex addict or whatever. If you feel you want to stop, the go for it, but I have a feeling that you don't and are just worried about why you are feeling guilty and what it means.

I would also like to point out, that I am not about to answer or agree/argue with anyhting to do with religion. It is all about peoples beliefs and you can see already a wide range on this thread. I deliberatly don't get into debates like this when there are biological explanations on things, because the problem is people start saying things like "god put them there to test us" etc and I feel that people just manipulate higher powers to do whatever they want to prove a point at any given time. Thus they cannot be argued with. I have given you the facts about your feelings, now you decide for yourself what that means for you with regard to faith.

It is a sin (I know I'm catholic) You feel guilty because of your conscience saying that its not good. But if your like me you would ignor it lol

March 6th, 2009, 05:52 PM
Okay nostsure101 if you know it's a sin, why do you continue to do it? I don't get that logic.

Though the majority says its fine, and it is, it's moreso of a sin, not a blank sin, but a morally disordered (means close to shamefully disturbing) sin. Though I'm not much of a devout Catholic, I still participate in religious things, mainly mass, etc. The Catholic Church is starting to be a bit less rigorous with this, but for the moment we can't say it has changed it at least a bit. I've never been to Confession, but I'd like to know: do they have it where that screen seperates you from the priest? Because I would not want the priest to look at me every Sunday and think of me as a sinner even though we all got our days.

somewhere in the bible it says u cant commit adultery, i think jacking off falls into that category.
if u r a christian then u might feel some guilt afterwards, and yeah i kno a few christians that masturbate, so...

dude it's ok. don't worry about it. Just remember it's your body. Do what you want. Just not anything bad :P. don't end up like me. But uh yeah masturbating is totally fine. Ignore the fact that you feel guilty. If you try to overlook it more, the less guilty you will feel as tome goes on.

if you know that it makes you feel guilty, stop doing it, and after awhile you will feel like it is not necessary to j/o, but if you do continue, after you are done, you might think of someone you care about who would not approve this and you then you feel guilty thinking about their disapproval, is there anyone in your life who would not approve. if there is, than that is the only reason that i can think of for your feelings of guilt.
