Just wondering how many of you guys practice abstinance.
And my definition of abstinance in regard to this post:
Abstinance-the personal desicion to refrain from ALL forms of sexual activity (does not include kissing tho it can) until marriage
If you do, why and do you have a promise/purity ring?
What do you think about promise/purity rings?
And if you do, are you a virgin? Or a secondary virgin(meaning you have declared yourself a virgin, typically by asking God for it)?
As for virginity if you were raped, you are still a virgin, to lose your virginity i believe you should have to consent.
If you dont, why not?
Hope that's not to jumbled.
And I'll go first, Yes I am a virgin, And yes i practice abstinance, because I am christian and i believe in the ten commandments.
Thou shalt not commit adultery (which includes sex before marriage). And is was my desicion no one asked me to. Or talked to me about it, i decided by myself. I do have a promise ring, because it helps serve as a reminder when ever i get an urge of the flesh.

Im abstinant because Im Christian and I dont want to get any STDS, are you crazy?
And I believe I should lose my virginity to my wife not to some random girl I just met(my friend did that, first date)

Kind of.
I promised myself:
A) I wouldn't have sex until college+ (as a general rule. Doesn't mean I will even in college)
B) Peer pressure will not affect my decision
C) It will be with someone worth while
Plus, IMO, it's a simple pleasure.
To me, it's like chocolate [Yes, I make metaphors to chocolate often :P]. If I heard it was good, I would eat it up.
If I heard it was good, but it also could make me fat for the rest of my life, and ruin my life, I wouldn't eat it.

No, I do not feel I should be limited to how I express love to another person. If someone deserves any kind of love from me, they will rightfully get it. I will use protection and take all precautions to make sure she and I are safe.

I'm ultimately afraid of commitment and I can almost never see myself marrying anyone... Thus I can't say I plan on practicing abstinence. I could see myself having sex as early as this year... Though I see that as highly unlikely for multiple reasons... I think I'll have sex when I find the perfect girl (and only if she were to agree to it, I would never force a girl into sex); whether that be tomorrow or in ten years, I'll just have to wait and find out.

I agree with that, and that is what I did. I abstained until college.

Finally an interesting thread :D
Umm, yes, I am practicing abstinence. I don't think that I will have sex while I am in high school...actually, I won't. I will wait until college.
Eitherway I am practicing it just because I don't want to be that person to be that stupid and I want it to be meaningful

I haven't made any vows to practice abstinance, and I don't know how long I will keep my virginity. Pretty much, I'll lose it when I find the right girl.

I'm not pracitising absitinance exactly...but i don't just have sex with any meaningless person. I'm into commitment and long-relationships, thats just one of the perks :)

Well, I practice it, but I don't wear anything to prove I do. I wait til I'm at least I'm an adult or I'm married to have sex.

I practice abstinance because
1) I don't want to get anyone preggers
2) I don't want to get an STD
3) I believe sex should be meaningful between two people that are in love

i dont practice abstinence because i dont see a reason to. I don't go having with everyone i see, or anyone i meet for that matter.
But, sex is part of my relationships, it's my own choice, i am always protected, and i am not ashamed.

You cannot completely protect yourself from STDs or Impregnating or becoming pregnant while you are sexually active. And some STDs have no symptoms and can lead to infertility.

Not necessarily true. There are methods (aside from abstinence) that have rates close to 99% when it comes to preventing pregnancy/STDs.

I've never seen a reason to be abstinent. I mean sure I've had bad experiences with sex but I've had way more that were very... fun I think as long as you're safe and sensible about it there's no reason to be abstinent.
Sorry mods I misread the date thought it was march 1st 2010 >.<

I don't practice it. IMO, it's just a waste of time. If you know how to protect yourself and you're HIGHLY educated on the subject, then I say have fun :P
