Why are girls nervous about sex for the first time?

I have always wondered.

Us guys are real excited and cant wait for it to happen.

But girls are all nervous and stuff.

Why is this?

Guys can be nervous too, infact even more nervous because there is often more pressure on them to 'do well'.

The reason a girl could be nervous is because they are aware it may hurt. Another reason would be because they don't know how the boy would react to them, and how its gonna turn out. The last reason i can think of is because girls are more modest sexually then guys are, they don't want to be called a 'slut' etc...

All in all its because we have more things to worry about :)

Eden is right girls have much more than guys if a girl as sex at a young age she'll be known as a slut plus they can get pregnant and for guys nothing other guys will give stupid respect just because they did it

I can't really add anything to that, however believe me, guys are JUST as nervous. Guys just try to hide it.

Guys can be just as nervous and insecure about it. Guys will hide their true feelings and try to hide behind a facade that they really want it when they don't.

You need to think a little deeper and realize that things aren't always what they seem. That kind of thought process is one-dimensional.

Yeah, I mean, I was nervous and excited the first time around. I think that girls are more shy and concerned about their bodies, plus the whole getting pregnant thing is much more concerning to the girl. But yeah, I mean I was worried, such as whether she would think that I was small, or whether I wouldn't get hard or shoot too early or just plain suck, plus there is the concern of hurting the girl, even if she isn't a virgin it still doesn't work to just go chargin in there lol ANd then of course it is a lot harder to get her to orgasm

The short answer is that girls are more sensible about it b/c they're more emotionally aware.

The longer answer is that 'anxiety' isn't limited to girls, but b/c they're more comfortable acknowldging tnheir emotions i general, they'd express this one specifically and with greater ease.

Also, guys sexual drive is far more immediate and urgent than girls, it's biology. So, although guys seem more gung ho, that's a reflection of both our difficulty discussing feeling openly, as well as the urgency of sexuality masking the underlying anxiety.

also add physical self-consciousness. That is the first time someone from the opposite sex sees them that way, everything is exposed. It is very nerve racking the first time around.

I dont think your question's really about being nervous, its about the urge or willingness to have sex. Everyone is nervous the first time they have sex, perhaps the first time with every different partner, I guess this is the same for boys and girls.

When it comes to sexual urges there's a biological thing - boys produce sperm and it has to find an outlet. Either you wank, or you wet dream, or you get sex (or any combination of those!) but the sperm needs out and boy do you know it. So there's an urgency on guys to get rid of their sperm. Its just letting off pressure.

For girls its different. Every sexual encounter involving "full sex" might result in a pregnacy. This a huge STOP signal.

Like others have already said, there's an attitude thing that means if other guys find out you've done it you're some kind of hero, its to be admired, whereas if you're a girl and people know you've done it you're seen as a slut. But I think the biological thing is stronger, boys just want to shoot their loads whereas girls have to be a lot more careful

I would say that guys are as nervous as girls. Primarily because youve never done it before. They don't know if it will hurt. They don't know how to do it. They don't want to look stupid. They don't want to break something. They are losing their innocence. Among other things...
And sometimes the guy can be pressured into sex to, either way, waiting until youre both ready should be how it goes. It shouldn't be one sided.

i always thought that girls are more nervous to have sex because there is a much higher risk for them than there is for a guy, a girl can get pregnant which can really ruin your life. And the worst that could happen to a guy is that he dosent do well

I think personally it would have to be because of self confidence and jut general fear that I will not be uh...pleasing to the person I was with.
Almost like performance anxiety.
