Hey VT people Will here with my 236th post, 30th started thread. Recently, I have noticed, by examining peoples profiles, that some people that have been banned for age and spamming have simply created new accounts and used them. Continuing their daily actions, they usually spam somewhere, or ask unnecessary questions in threads which simply divert users from their usual postings. I'm am asking, could it be possible to enable a system which only allows one account to be created per IP address? I think this would greatly reduce the amount of spammers and underage children at VT, if it is possible and reasonable.

P.S. Wasn't sure wether to post this in the VT HQ, or Suggestions. Put it here.

Umm first response would be no we can't have a system that would allow one IP address because one, IP addresses are changed from computer to computer often and two, I don't think there is a hack that can do that.
And second is, if you see/know someone has a multiple account, simply PM or contact a Senior Staff member (gmod/admin) and they will check the PM and ban if needed.
That will help the staff alot and keep the forums clean of those people

Oh wow totally forgot about that one. You're right, it was kinda one of my crazy ideas. You can lock this, unless more people want to comment.

it IS possible to IP-ban effectively, and it is not a hack.

Yes, it's possible, and quite easy. It's done often as well.
But it's also quite easy to change or reset your IP address, so that's no good.

It's best just to report them as you see them, and we can deal with them.

Also keep in mind that there can be multiple people that have found VT, say siblings, that may want to have seperate accounts. So, IP addresss hacks would block them out.

it is a good idea...!but we cant control them from registering here and everywhere they have thier free will..! maybe they should be ban always or just report to the admins,so that admin we'll be the one who'll do something to obtain this problem..!

1. Libraries. If you created your account at one, then someone else can't, and that's not fair.

2. sibblings. If you have a sis/bro who wants to come on in the future, they can't.

If someone had a static IP address then it changes all the time, thereby this system would be pointless even if it was possible.

Actually, that would be a dynamic IP address. Static stays the same, dynamic changes.

You can't really do IP blocks because of siblings, which is really a main problem here, and even if you did use IP blocking you could use a proxy, which is easy to do and just gets around that. So, there's not much else you can do other than just report the offender.

One word. Impossible.

Besides, I'm pretty sure we're still using a modification to detect multiple accounts. It catches all typical multiple account logins and registrations.

Yep that modification was created by a pretty awesome coder.
