Okay we've all at some point or another told why we cut like feeling wise what I'm wondering is which is most satisfying the pain, the blood, the scars, the cool of the blade....or another reason. If it's "other" plz tell what it is. Thx just wondering.

It's always been the pain and the blood for me.

I know this isn't the point of the thread but couldn't that question/responses encourage people to SH?

Just for me, I like the look of the marks I make.

I like seeing the scars after the fact. Well I did like seeing them, now I'm just trying to get rid of them or make the them less noticeable. I made a big mistake in starting :/

I chose blood (man that makes me feel disturbed).

I have a love-hate relationship with my scars. I like them as a way to show myself that what I'm feeling is real. I hate them because I wouldn't want anyone else to see them (so I always have to cover them up) and because I feel guilty for making them in the first place.

I was just thinking that it could maybe say that like blood is good, scars are good, etc.

Obviously that wasn't the point and it was just an idea, so I'll shut up now lol sorry ^^'

I understand what your saying. I love my scars because they show where i have been and remind me not to go backl, but more often then not i hate them becuase they show the world what i can't say and what i dont want them to know. And i about feeling disturbed because of the blood, don't I like the blood because it's calming, my favorite part was when it trickled down my wrist (not trying to promote SI) but i don't think it's disturbing.

I know exactly what you mean!

I mean, how are the "quick fixes" (e.g. using red marker, rubber bands etc) supposed to address something as integral to the whole thing as seeing the blood...

I think the blood is most satisfying. But also the scars, like proving you can make it through physical pain if not emotional. (That sounded corny but its true). They're also a bitch to cover up though.

The pain is soothing and I like the way the blood oozes and trickles down my skin.

This may sound sick, but I like the way the scars look, especially if they're scarlet red and neatly spaced-out on each one of my arms, if you know what I mean.

Well, now I think about it..

Also the pain because that gives me the feeling I have some control over my life, and I feel good cause I can stand it.

Hold on, I have a poem/list that I wrote when I first started a journal (it's basically what goes through my mind during cutting):
Soft skin, anxiety, pulse, no choice, cold blade, scratch, slice, pain, rub, red, just a little more blood, rush, high, calm, shaking, done.

hard to describe…its pretty much the feeling of letting go of something that urge you to cut… a feeling or just a "wanting" of doing it

Also, about the scars... sometimes I'll want to cut so that there aren't more scars on one arm than on the other. They have to look even. Of course, that's the OCD in me. :)
