Hey no time for normal beginning but today I was typing a huge complete STD and STI guide in the General Puberty section and when I said preview post, It said I should reload the page because I had logged in while I was posting. I did so and the same message occurred after. I thought "Oh ya, I should log off the other page I opened while on here". I did so, and I still told me to reload it after a few tries. Finally, I noticed it was asking me to reload the page in which I typed my thread. I did so, and it ERASED everything I had written, which was HUGE. I really don't want this to happen again, so I was wondering what did happen. My suggestion is is that whatever didn't enable me to submit this forum although it said I was logged in should be disabled, so that this wont happen again.

Things similar to this have happened to me before... I've just learned to copy everything I've typed when I'm done typing it when I type something huge on here (and on most other sites, esp. forums).

I'm not sure what happened, but I would advise in the future typing it up in a more reliable text editor, i.e. Microsoft Word, and saving it every so often, then copying and pasting it into VT.

[Oh, and sorry to burst your bubble, but we do have an STD/I guide (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showthread.php?t=35760) in General Hospital :(]

Actually that kinda made me happier and more relaxed cause it means i don't have to type it again. *cough cough although mine was better cough cough* :P

Any idea what this was though?

BTW whoever downgraded my rep on this... It was a joke, mine was almost the same as the one we have now on VT. Can't this site be a little fun and games?

You can only stay logged in for 30 minutes without activity. After that, the session expires and you are seen as offline. For years, there was a 15 minute limit, but I doubled it right before the new year.

It's already happened, and there's no way of getting your article back. So take this as a learning experience. If you are typing a long post, select all of it, copy it, and then preview it every 10 minutes or so. That will keep you logged in. You might want to even save your current work in a text file on your computer in case your computer crashes or the power goes out. Be smart and be safe when it comes to precious material.

Don't refresh. As already said, copy and paste it.

If you already hit preview and it said reload, just hit the back button.

It's too late now, but for future reference...

I seem to recall I made that guide, so thank you. If you have anything to add, feel free to PM a moderator there, or me, or really any moderator, to what you want added, and it will be considered. This forum is a community composed and organized by members, so you are more than welcome to add to the guide. Just pm someone with your information and we'll see.

You could also open another tab or window and go to the who's online so it'll keep you logged in as well.

That has happened to me SOOO many times. Like Adam said, I have learned to copy stuff before i post them if I think I have been logged out.
Otherwise, that logging out feature will probably remain., You just have to learn to beat the system :)
