View Full Version : I have no idea what is wrong with me...

Sometimes I will hear music playing, very clearly, but it ends up being in my head as I went to check every speaker near me. It really freaks me out. It isn't my ipod but the sound of the music is SO clear as if it was playing right next to me. I can also hear other sounds like voices and people walking (Don't bring up 'your house is haunted' because no one else hears these noises). This has caused me to have a terrible paranoia. Anytime I'm walking alone and the area isn't that crowded, I constantly look behind me to see if someone is following me. Now to make it worse, when I'm downstairs at my house at night to get a drink or something, I hear someone following me and can almost feel it. So I have to run up the stairs like a mad man and shut my door behind me and constantly look around to see if anyone followed me into my room. I have no idea what has caused this but it's very scary. Some people told me I have schizophrenia but people also told me that it's rare and I'm probably fine.

Well you shouldn't listen to ''some people'' who stamp a complicated psychiatrial diagnosis on you.
I storngly suggest you go see a professional so you can figure out whats wrong and how to best deal with it.

Thanks I'll try.
I asked my parents and they think it's normal. Since when are they doctors?

I agree with Hyper. You really need to get that checked out.
It kind of sounds like the after-effects of certain drugs. Are you/were you on anything?

Well if your hearing voices or if you think your being followed to the extent that your scared and it interfiers with your life, something isn't normal
Don't worry yourself though if you've been able to live quite normally up till now, you'll manage for many years to come

It happens when I am sober and it's been happening since I noticed it (couple years)
The only drug I use often is marijuana. But that was 2-3 months ago.
And it doesn't really affect my life, but it's very creepy nonetheless. Oddly enough I noticed that marijuana reverses my paranoia and I don't hear the voices.

Well if you talked to your parents and told them what you told us
Just tell them you'd like to get a professional opinion because it worries you and is starting to interveen with your life
Sounds nice and simple in theory ^^

I'm trying to convince them but they're in denial. Even though my sister has gone through a series of mental problems, it doesn't phase them that I have a big possibility of having one.
And the sounds nice and simple statement you made; were you implying to my marijuana or your idea lol?

My idea
Smoking & Drinking is even easier
Being sober is also easy

What kinds of mental problems has your sister had? And, does anyone else in the family have them? These things are often genetic, the chances of you having schizophrenia when no one else does is pretty low. Also, eventhough pot relieves the symptoms, when it wears off, it could actually exacerbate them. Try going without it for a long time and see if the symptoms go away.
Everyone has that 'little voice' in their head, it's your own consciousness. And that CD player, too, it's long term auditory memory. As long as they are clearly in your head (regardless of how vivid), it's normal. Likewise, a lot of people freak out with sounds and stuff, esp. when they're either alone in a strange place, or it's the middle of the night. Anxiety in these situations sometimes gets the best of us, and prevents us from accurately processing the info from external reality, so we creep out a bit.

Oh. Well it is easy, but I like to make things interesting.

It isn't from pot. Like I said I recently started smoking. Anyways my sister has sensory issues and has seizures and such. I have no idea if people in my family have schizophrenia. But as I said, pot relieves the symptoms but hasn't make it worse at all for me. Even when I had a 'hangover' it isn't worse.
And I understand that's normal, but the sound is very crisp and I cannot tell reality from my own mind. It's TOO real to not be real.

You should read the book about McBeth. Lady McBeth and this guy has killed the king with a dagger. Lady McBeth started seing her hand holding a dagger. She has asked to get water from seven oceans of the world and the she still sees a dagger before her. Sometimes guilt can cause us to see and hear things. Did you do something that is causing you a lot of guilt? Maybe you should forgive yourself and move on. Do yourself a favor and love yourself...we all make mistakes and can start all over.

Please tell me you are trolling.
Now I'm assuming you aren't...
No, I haven't done anything guilty. I do have regrets but none that big. And I'm very happy with my life. Happier than I've ever been since this girl entered it.

i get the music thing too, quite clearly. or people calling me.
and it is quite clear. but i dont think it's schizo.
its just very vivid memory.
but umm the thing about feeling someone with you or able to hear them. that i don't know of.
keep trying with your parents. One is never sure, so why not clear the doubts.

I would guess that but it's to the point where it sounds as if its from a speaker. Where I can't tell reality from mentality.

i have the same problem. no joke. do you sometimes check yer closet too? i know it's weird but we are the few and we are the interesting ones. Play around with it. Try to turn it into something positive. I right everything down. I write books and make little movies in my head. This helps a ton. You will see life in a totally different way. It feels amazing. But, for me, this has been going on since I was 8 sooo idk i guess i am more used to it...
Has this only happened to you recently?

Its been happening since I could remember. Which was when I was around 6-7. I remember going into the garage and see this object float up and a fall and hear voices. I never was so scared in my life. I don't believe in paranormal and believe this is my head doing this. And oh my god. I daydream a ton and go out of focus on reality if that's what you mean.
