Awwww.....I think anyone who gets the bubbles over love songs and cannot sleep as a result is OK in my book! It shows real heart.

I think it takes time to build up the courage/self confidence to actually approach a girl for the first time, esp. one who makes you bubble over. However, anyone who actually admits to bubbling is surely going to be warmly received when he (you!) finally makes his move, so rest easy.

I think there are many types of friends, 'dating' is only one kind. Start just by saying hello and spending some time together in school, don't look to call it something that your folks will find objectionable, and you'll be OK.

And, for pete's sake do NOT turn off the radio, it sounds like inspiration for you!

Awww, that sounds so sweet! Just try hanging out with the girl as a friend - from your post you sound really sensitive and caring and girls like that kind of thing, so I'm sure she'll be happy to make friends with you - and see how things turn out. If things turn out well and you think you could have a relationship with this girl beyond friendship then you need to sit down and talk to your mum. She is probably just being protective or hasn't quite realised how you're growing up (a typical parent thing), and if you say to her that you've been friends with this girl for a long time and say how much you like her she might change her mind about you getting a girlfriend.
In the meanwhile, just concentrate on being friends with this girl and see how it develops. How about tomorrow you say hello to her and have a friendly conversation - find out more about her likes/dislikes, hobbies etc?
