Hey all my peoples of VT, Will here with my 159th post, 23rd started thread. This one is of a whole new topic. Okay, so recently, I have noticed that some friends of mine, that are clearly less developed puberty wise of me, have armpit hair, while I don't... I'm wondering, is the growth of armpit hair strictly related to procession through puberty or more towards genetics? I am beginning to think that it is more associated with genetics because one of my friends, who is almost fully matured, has barely any body or facial hair, while I, being less matured, have A LOT.

Thanks to the people that answer :)

The order in which different parts of your body develop in puberty can change quite a bit from person to person. While there is normally a general progression, not all people follow it, in fact many don't. I'm kind of the same, I don't have any armpit hair except a few strands, but other parts of my body are developing more or less that same as other people. It's random, puberty is random. Just one of those things you have to deal with in life. :P

Body hair is some thing that is strictly controlled by genetics. Not to sound racist but take Asians for example, they have some body hair to very little at all for most of their race(i know that there are exceptions to that) its not some thing that you should worry about since you seem to be right on track development wise.

Well I believe that it might be progression. My friend, who is way older than me, has no underarm hair at all. While I have tons under my arm, and down below. XD So I just believe it has to do with starting early or late.

Yeah, genetics have a lot to do with it, plus puberty isn't as orderly for guys as it is for girls. Usually everything happens in a more similar order with girls, while things tend to happen all over the place for guys. Look at that 13 year old boy that supposedly had that kid in the UK, he doesn't look like he even sniffed puberty yet, but obviously he still has a swim team. lol For me I had a lot of body hair at first, then ejaculation, then voice breaking and penis growth. But yeah, it was weird for me because I was always short for my age but I was like the first guy in my class to get leg and pit hair, it was dark/noticeable when I was 12, but yet I still really hadn't started growing down there yet, (except hair) and had a high voice.

it's both puberty and genetics- they both play a part in hair growth. But don't worry I don't have armpit hair either.
