This video contains highlights of the documentary "Jesus Camp." I encourage you to watch the whole documentary, but this bit hits the main points of the video.
The weird thing is, most of this video takes place in a camp I've been to and worshiped in. It's only a couple of hours away from here.
This isn't in ANY WAY to offend or bash Christians. I have absolutely no problem with Christians, I just have a problem with the way Evangelism works. It DOES instill fear in children. Christianity is supposed to be peaceful yet they are saying they need to wage WAR against the enemy...This video to be honest DOES scare me.

I too disagree. This is not right. I have experienced something similar to it. But I do not agree at all, which what is appearent forcing of children to believe in something I doubt they can even fully comprehend the concept of God. Like, yes, I believe in religion, but I don't believethat it is a good idea to command in that way. It is powerful stuff to have all the emotion, yelling, screaming, crying, joy, yet happiness, around you. I know, I've done it. Its hardcore. But, its powerful and it can help people, even if its screwed up. As for these children, and waging war, HELL no.

This is one of the main reasons I quite simply cant stand the christian belief when it forces it onto people. I wonder, is it possible that the people in this video, namely those doing all the phrases of "break the cup", etc... are doing child abuse?

I've seen that video. Seriuslly its scary. People willingly send their kids to that place. It deosn't matter what your religious views are... that's not right.
Wonder what they do to kids who balk at it at first...

I really hate it when people who are supposed to be Christians act like that. Brian washing people. Scaring little children. Forcing beliefs on other. They give a bad name to the real Christians of the world. The real Christians who don't act like that because they know what someone else believes is not under their control, nor should it be.
Ooooh, I saw that law and order episode. That camp disgusted me. :D

And to me that has nothing to do with Jesus
Wage war? WAGE WAR ON WHO? Seriously at best you could call it Satan/Demon camp. For fucks sake Jesus or God doesn't want us to wage war on anybody or any country.....
The evangelists are a branch I definately have a distaste for.. Many of them are good people but they tend to fall on the fanatical side and I consider all extremes unhealthy to the mind

I don't know what they think and I really don't want to know..
Their a part of the Christians who take the bible literally.. And that is where most of the modern misconceptions come from
Of course I can speak only for myself.. To them I'm possibly an idiot

I'm not defending them, but I've talked a LOT about it with some friends of mine that are similar to that, less hardcore, but similar. The "war" they speak of isn't like, (well for most people) going out and stabbing people and guns and shit, no, its a war on sin. its a war on temptation. It is a war against all the things that could tear us away from God and Jesus. Yes, they believe they should be mad, not violent, but yes, angry. Uh-huh, angry. They are angry that people are ignorant to be so corrupted.
Just what I've learned.

So I've uh... just wathed this, and I have to say that I am sickened. Brainwashed is right. The ways they attempt to get at these children and make them feel like their only chance is to just give up and give in to God or whatever is just brutal and horrid. I mean, like the Harry Potter thing, and when they were talking about how horrible they all probably were when they were at school with their friends, they just use inicredibly low and hard hitting methods on these little children that don't know any better.
I'll just end up ranting, so all I have to say is that, this is horrible. Ugh.

It is quite very easy to judge that these kids are being mislead by their church leaders. The truth is, these kids experienced the power of the Holy Spirit. They experienced how much Jesus love them and that is why they are crying...which is called "tears of joy." The breaking of the cups seems to be a symbol of breaking away from vices, from peer preasure, from being politicallty correct at the expense of morals. They break the cup of selfishness and for being lovers of pleasure. This group of Christians are called the Penticostals or the Charismatics. They experience the awesome power of God in their lives. Why are they crying? Should you see yourself infront of God (which will happen when you die) everyone will have an illumination of conscience. You see yourself sinful and sorrowful for all the sins you committed because you are in the front of omnipotent Being that has no beginning nor end. Thy cry because they see how much they have offended God. For all non-Christians, the first video does not indicate that this kids have been brain washed. This is the direct result when you accept Jesus Christ in your life. The last portion of the video shows how the girl is not being discourage by negativity of the world. What an awesome feeling not to be controlled by peer preasure. Time will come that Christians will be persecuted for exercising their beliefs. It has to happen first before the Armagedon, the Second Coming, the Judgement Day. The hour and Day we do not know, but you can almost feel that it is very close. I believe this video is posted for the mockery of Christianity.
Jesus said "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for their is the kingdom of God."

The problem is that they are having the beliefs forced upon them. They don't even get to wait until they are mentally mature enough to make the decision for themselves, they are just put into it and basically forced through the whole thing.
Religion should be a choice. People should have free will. Kids that age don't usually have a free will that is cultivated enough to make informed decision on these matters.
As for them "experienceing the power of the holy spirit," you will see many things like this in many other religions, and you could say that, in the same way that those children were experiencing the "holy spirit" and crying tears of joy, other children of other religions could be argued as experiencing their own holy spirirt and crying tears of joy for their God. It would be just as horrible then, but the way you said it it made it seem like Christianity was the only right religion, which is biased and highly debatable.

Lets see...
I'd like to consider myself an open-minded person. My sister is an evangelical christian and I'm fine with that. This summer she invited me to one of these camps just for the experience. So I went and experienced it and I can honestly not believe how people can believe that. At the place I went to they would go and preach on the streets to people about how they needed Jesus, just like the little girl in Jesus Camp. I guess I'm not a fan of organized religion or imposing your beliefs on other people. I thought this movie was horrifying.

If these kids were forced to be there...they should be very angry crying. They should be outraged if they do not want to be in there. These kids are not brainwashed. They want to be there and they experience the real preasence of God. God has given us the freedom to choose him (salvation) or not (final damnation). All this world has to offer is false hope, happiness that is not joy, pleasure but not love, to live with no hope. We are all just passing by. Our nature is to be happy. True happiness can only be found in believing in God. No one should force you as God never forcess Himself to us. There are more people praying to God now as they feel the global recession and feel how life is so temporary in this world. If there is anything I should worry about...that will be where my sould will end up after I die. This kids were not brain washed. They are there and they want to be there. If not...then they should have ran outside the door.

If I was there, I would be pretty darn afraid of NOT participating if that woman was yelling at us all like that. How could anyone refuse to participate? There's like, no way you could do that without getting a ton of crap. And besides, the children were put into it at young ages, most likely under the impression that this was something 'fun' to do. They were bred into it most of the time.

Oh no, do understand I agree that its wrong to have it this intense for young children because they aren't the most prepared for it or anything. Don't get me wrong. I just believe that if the children DON'T want to be there, they don't have to be. Personal view point. And the documentary is from a biased view point in my opinion too.

Kids that young have free will, sure, but take a look at schools. Kids do what the teacher tells them, whether they want to or not. This is the same thing. You have some woman going around yelling that "we need to speak in tongues" and all this crap, all the other kids around you are doing it, no matter how uncomfortable you are, you're going to participate, especially at their age.
I also feel that these children are being forced to go to camp. Not at the age they are in this video, but years before. They've been pushed into it so much and feel it is fun. I'm not saying the other parts of camp aren't fun, but how can that worship be fun. All I can see is fear on their faces. These kids maybe do have the choice to go to this now, but their parents forced them when they were so young that they grew up with it. They grew to enjoy it.

A. No he's trying to preach about something we don't care about
B. Are you kidding? You have to be. They are forced by their parents. You think that some 5 year old will go 'Mom take me to jesus camp this weekend!'. No. It's more like 'Daughter, I'm going to stick religions cock down your throat by sending you to jesus camp and you have no choice'.

This is why I'm atheist. I can not stand watching this. They are brain washing them. Telling them Harry Potter is the enemy and bull like that, is brainwashing. Probably a week earlier some of those kids were watching Harry Potter movies. And the wage war thing. Are these people war mongers? They chant that like they are going to go to war. If some little girl like the one at the end of the video came up to me saying something about god like she did, I would seriously throw the little booklet down and run away. That is scary. Why do no other religions do that? Probably because they know the fine line between teaching and brainwashing. And WTF is she "saying" at 1:03?

Nah, most religions do this (only the extremists of the religion). Radical Muslims are worse though. They are actually putting the guns in the kids hands (kids as young as 10, or probably younger) and preacher their Jihad. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with religion, because it is in fact a good thing, but I have a huge problem with extremists and radicals like these.

Ha, well gee, this "Jesus Camp" isn't cultish at all =D
I am particularly fond of the part where she's like:
"Let me say something about Harry Potter!"
...O_O
"WARLOCKS ARE ENEMIES OF GOD"
Ha ha, what a tool she is. And this, actually, are one of the main reasons that I dont like group worship. Not only does it make me want to ask the person next to me to go outside and pray because its so awkward, but what if some things are said that I dont agree with? Do I just sit/stand there and NOT bow my head?
Point is, it's a pity, really to such an extent that is damned frightful, that these kids are pulled in with the ramblings of a sick whale. Oh course, I am Christian, and I yet I mean every bit of what I said, as that woman isn't a Christian.

Sorry there, but that's a no true scotsman fallacy. You see this ALL the time, whenever a certain group of Christians start spouting hate, bigotry, or just plain ignorance many moderate Christians are quite ready to jump in and say "but they're not REAL Christians". Funny how these hardcore people would say the same about you! You see, whether you like it or not, all of you are still Christians, yes even the Westborough Baptist Church are Christians by definition (those are the "god hates fags" people).
If you still want the views of the so-called "sane" Christian groups to be heard, then its up to YOU guys to voice your opinions louder to drown out these buffoons. At the moment, crazy people like this are the loudest spokespersons for your religion, so you need to step it up and start actively denouncing them just like us atheists.

Oh, pardon me. I wasn't saying some people don't want that, I was saying that some people (particularly various extremists) can't be happy with only that. Some people really do want the entire world to share their faith and don't give a rat's ass how it gets done, so long as everyone agrees with them.
