What is GovTeen? I've heard a lot of people here talk about it.

GovTeen is another forum, a little bit like this one. We are one of GovTeen's sister sites, although we don't really have too much to do with them.

GovTeen is also the organization that supported/helped start VirtualTeen. If I'm not mistaken, it stands for GoVirtualTeen, since at the time, VirtualTeen wasn't available (or something along those lines)
It was run by Sam Alexander- a man who supported many teen sites to help kids that couldn't go to adults -until he passed away. Now the Admins support the site financially.

Yes, GovTeen actually stood for "GoVirtualTeen" back in the day, but most people have long since forgotten that. GovTeen was the start of a network of teen sites. The network was known as GovTeen, Inc. and GovTeen.com was the first site that premiered. I'm not sure what was next, but I know that VirtualTeen.org was created years after GovTeen.com was started.

Anyway, GovTeen.com is still a sister site, but they rarely communicate or even cooperate with us. I imagine that it's starting to change, because Ben made contact with me in late 2008 and he was very polite. At any rate, most of GovTeen.com doesn't seem to like us very much.

I think most of Govteen don't even know about us...eventhough there is a link to our site...that maybe 1/4 have visited :P
