well.....what can you say??
Lack of education I think....the boy said "I though it would be a good idea to have a baby" clearly, he has no idea what he was doing or the consequences of it.
Shame..he looked like he could of had a great life, but now...
I feel sorry for the baby. And what was his gf doing with a 13 yo?? Who looks about 10??
It's all to wierd..all to sad.

That's fascinating.
What more could we expect from teens, or should I say, kids, these days?
And look at the thing the baby is wearing! Oh wow.
And I agree with Requin. The girl should have known better, at 14, to be having sex with a 12-year-old.
Sometimes you just have to pay a price!

This is one wierd story. First off no way does he look old enough, says he hasn't hit puberty and yet he's supposed to have got someone pregnant. How does that add up? Next up he's 13 now, 12 when they f*****d, and seems to be saying he didn't know where babies come from. Honestly we're not a 3rd world country, we do have sex education, every 12 year old knows about sex & where babies come from. Then there the girls mother, how many mothers let 15 year old girls take 12 year old boys to bed with them. wtf going on here? Then there's the girl herself. What is she some kind of pedo? She's twice the side of him, if she goes on top he could be crushed! Best of luck to them, but seriously wierd.

I have to feel bad for the boy, but seriously...WHAT THE FUCK IS A KID HAVING SEX AT 12 YEARS OLD FOR!?!?!?!?!?!
Having sex at such a young age ruins lives. His life is ruined, his girlfriends, their kid's, probably their parents. That is possibly 7 lives ruined right there. I think what should happen in this situation is that the baby should be given to one pair of the grandparents and grow up as their child. Seriously. It's just a fucked up situation really.
Something like that happened with Jack Nicholson. He grew up believing that what were actually his grandparents were his parents. He also grew up under the belief that his actual mother was his sister.
Like I said...all of their lives are fucked now.

I'm still amazed at the amount of kids under 15 having sex too. It's stupid to me. I certainly can't see anything positive coming out of having sex before you are 15. And don't say "it's because I love the other person." How many couples do you know have been together since they were under 15. When you are that young you can't even feel that kind of love in my opinion. People are still to mentally immature to love at that age, let alone to have sex.

I disagree, it shouldn't be the law's choice in my opinion. But I also don't think that it should be the childs choice. It should have been the parents decision, considering that they are still 'under' parental control. I'm still not too sure about this story though, I have a feeling that the 13 year old dad isn't the actual father, and that his 'girlfriend' has been cheating on him. There's no way he could have produced sperm even now, never mind at 12 years old. I call for a DNA test
P.S. That girl must have been terribly desperate.

I'm usually the mean one in these kind of threads, but for once, I'm going to be the nice one. Reading parts of the articles, the kid sacrificed a lot for his child. Dennis (kid's dad) 45, said: “He could have shrugged his shoulders and sat at home on his Playstation. But he has been at the hospital every day.”
Obviously they made a mistake. They know it and accept it. They're trying to make a positive thing out of something so negative. Although I completely disagree that they should have kept the baby or even had sex for that matter, I have to admire their courage. I don't think it's going to work well for them, but as long as they try to raise it and love the child dearly, they have some of my respect.

This is going to keep happening more and more often until kids get their heads out of their asses and stop having sex. I hear about 12, 13, 14 year olds on this site even, having sex, I don't understand that. Do people not understand the consequences of their actions. In this particular situation, the 15 year old girl, should have known better than have sex with a 12 year old, and the 12 year old should have been smart enough to figure out not to do it. This entire sex situation with youth is getting out of control, it's completely ridiculous. "But i used a condom" is what i hear all the time, HA, do people honestly think that works all the time. There is something called masturbation, or better yet control, people need to try it.

Don't like mean to be.. Aaa uhhh.. Anti christ, bastard, son of a bitch
But man.. Firstly when you look at the picture of those 2 together.. When I saw that picture for the first time ( Where the kid and her parents are together... ) I thought that.. Is she a pedo or something?
Look at the eyebags.. And her appearance seriously..
And then look at the kid I'd say his 10 if I look at him.. How the hell did a kid like that get anyone pregnant when he was 1 year younger?
Seriously whenever I see a documentary or news article about some kid becoming a mother or father under 16 in britain, the girl is always ugly, fat and has eyebags like she was a long term drug addict
Maybe I'm expressing myself wrong here and in truth her looks are irrelevant. But.. But what the hell is wrong with kids? And how the hell do they know that, that boy is her father
I'd definately have the grandparents do a little DNA testing..
And I definately apologize if I offended someone, I'm not judgemental and mean but seriously I see that kind of eye bags on druggies on the street

Latest news on this is that at least 2 other, older, boys are claiming that they had sex with the girl at around the time that she would have got pregnant and want paternity tests. There are also stories that she had been screwing as many as 8 or 9 other boys. Presumably the baby-faced kid in the orginial story believes he came inside her and could have made her pregnant but from the photos I don't believe it. No way can that kid cum. As he's too stupid to understand the word "financially" its not surprising if he doesn't understand "ejaculate".

I've read other stories that say that there is no certainty that the 13 year old is the father - supposedly, he lost his virginity to this girl but he wasn't the first boy she had been with. A "source" says that her parents let her and her siblings run wild, and that he wasn't the first boy that was allowed to stay over.

Lol I love this thread!
Either way, kids know too much. Our parents got next to no sex education and were all significantly less likely to get pregnant at 13/14 years old. I knew fuck all about puberty and because of that I didn't have the "torment" of developing at the right rate blah blah blah. Seriously, kids know too much for their own good.

Even if the parents said they'd keep the baby...imagine the kid when he'll discover the truth. Total wreck. My sister and myself have more age difference (22 years) than the presumed father and the child in the news.

There have been cases of 8 and 9 year old parents, and anywhere from 10-13 is still considered the normal start of puberty.

Boy, 13, did father baby: teen mum
13:00 AEST Tue Feb 17 2009
The girlfriend of the 13-year-old boy labelled Britain's youngest dad has rejected claims he did not father her child, publicly declaring "I lost my virginity to him".
Chantelle Steadman, 15, last week gave birth to a girl, Maisie, amid intense media scrutiny — which was compounded when two other teenage boys claimed they could be the father.
Her boyfriend of two years, 13-year-old Alfie Patten, has agreed to take a paternity test he believes will prove beyond doubt that he is the father.
Chantelle has spoken for the first time to back up Alfie's paternity claim and hit back at accusations she had sex with the other boys.
"I love Alfie — I lost my virginity to him," UK newspaper The Sun quoted her as saying.
"We decided to start a physical relationship because we love each other. There has been no one else. Other stupid boys are lying."
Chantelle said Alfie was just 12 when she told him they were expecting a baby.
Since the birth, Alfie has been a doting father who can’t bear to be separated from his daughter, she said.
Matters were complicated yesterday when Tyler Barker, 14, and Richard Goodsell, 16, came forward with claims they had also slept with Chantelle and could have fathered the baby.
The elder boy said even his mother and friends were telling him Maisie "had [his] eyes".
But Chantelle's mother Penny Steadman, 38, joined with her daughter in dismissing the two boys' claims and insisted her daughter had only slept with Alfie.
She said she initially had no idea Chantelle and Alfie had a sexual relationship.
"I spoke to them both one night and asked, 'Are you sleeping together?'" she was quoted as saying.
"Their reply was, 'No'. We had no reason not to believe them."

OMG. What a slut lol..
"Richard said that Chantelle also slept with several boys in the neighbourhood: “To be honest, any one of my mates could be the dad.”" WHAT THE FUCK. LOL
Then again...
"Meanwhile, Alfie's mother Nicola Patten is due to appear at Eastbourne Magistrates' Court on February 24 "for failing to send a child to school".
The charge is believed to relate to Alfie's poor attendance at Willingdon Community School, near his home in Hailsham, East Sussex. The prosecution was brought by East Sussex County Council's Education Welfare Service."
No wonder the boy was so dumb... Source: http://www.itv.com/News/Articles/Row-over-Alfie-DNA-test-634541923.html
And now...
"Chris Matyszczyk at CNET blamed the pregancy on a low moral fibre brought on by Patten’s love of the video game, Saints Row 2, although the game has violent rather than sexual content. “I am sure that you, too, are only waiting for the first wise academic to declare that this sort of behavior is the fault of the video game culture,” he said."

Donkey's right, read the stories, this kid doesn't go to school. He probably missed the sex education lessons. Its also very clear from today's stories that his dad is out to make money from this. Sanctity of life is almost a strawman argument here.
It's one of these big, nice terms with plenty of positive connotations pro-life people like to throw everywhere when something is in direct relation to the abortion debate, no matter the real odds or the situation.
Better one "life" ended than ~10 ruined. Especially the kid's. He's already not the sharpest knife in the drawer because his mom stripped him of his right to education. Now he's got a baby, money leeches all around him and a promiscuous "girlfriend". He's 13 and he's got more problems than I do, and I'm a grown man supposed to have responsabilities and all that jazz. This is definitely NOT normal.
The demeanor of the kids' parents has shown that these particular adults cannot be trusted with the welfare of an innocent kid, much less a baby born to an innocent kid.
The more society goes on and the more I believe in a strong state, not for the sake of authoritarianism itself but for protecting people from their own mistakes until we're wise enough to learn from them.
Talking about the now though. We've got irresponsible grandparents, a mother with lax morals and a father who doesn't seem to know what's going on, both of which happens to be underage, one of which doesn't even attend school as a kid his age should.
The obvious answer? At the very least, the baby should be sent into adoption. I mean no offense to people who were adopted by great families, and I'm sure there are a bunch of them, but I'm much too pessimistic to have any trust in the adoption system. It would have been better for the baby if the embryo had been killed.
EDIT : a neo-con that is not pro-life. Yeah I know lolwut blah blah blah

The youngest boy ever to father a child was 12 years old. He was 11 when the child was conceived. That makes it clear that the boy in this current news story could very well be the biological father regardless of his appearance.
The youngest girl to ever have a child was 5. She had been having regular periods from the age of 3 years. This is a very extreme case, but it perfectly illustrates the point that you can still look like a child and be the biological parent of a baby.

Alfie's fatherhood a scam: family friend
10:00 AEST Thu Feb 19 2009
By ninemsn staff
The 13-year-old said to be Britain's youngest father was a victim of a scam devised by his girlfriend's mother to cash in on publicity surrounding the young parents, a family friend has claimed.
Teen mum Chantelle Steadman's mother told her 15-year-old daughter to say Alfie Patten was the father of baby Maisie Roxanne who was born last week, according to a report in The Daily Mail newspaper.
Clive Sim, who says he is a friend of the Steadman's, said Penny Steadman had told her daughter Chantelle to keep quiet about other boys she had slept with because "she knew Alfie being the dad makes a better story".
"I think there's a big scam going on here" he was quoted as saying.
The claims come amid media attention surrounding the two families, and speculation that Maisie's father could be one of up to six boys Chantelle had slept with.
Alfie has agreed to take a DNA test to prove he is the father, with several television outlets reported to be offering up to $180,000 to broadcast the results.
Trainee chef Richard Goodsell, 16, has come forward claiming he is Maisie’s father as has 14-year-old Tyler Barker.
Chantelle is reportedly "distraught" at the allegations and says she lost her virginity to Alfie.
Both Chantelle's and Alfie's parents are thought to have already earned thousands of dollars in media deals since The Sun broke the story last week.

At the main topic... Well, things are just out of hand these days. It's horrible. Kids have waaay to much time on their hands and they are doing stupid things with it. Something needs to be done, but really the answer isn't clear right now, and it's probably not reachable. It's sad...

I was capable of producing sperm before I was 12.
Wow really, the first time i tried was when i was early to mid 14. I was referring to what he looks like though, as someone else on this thread said. I can't wait to see the results of this paternity test. I think that the results are planned to be kept secret but there is no way the press won't discover them.

I live in england, this is prejudicial this post... The youth culture is to be proud of, not? !!! Any way. Somthing sky news for once "sarcastically" gets wrong. This is only the youngest birth in britan... Not the world.
Some african countries have birth rates at 10 and sometimes younger. Then im not even going to start on america... I have just been doing some research, the youngest recorder mothering case in the state of florida is 11 years old. This english girl is around 15. The father of this floridian girl was only 9, talk about premature ejaculation. So, erm, ha!

Actually, the youngest father in Britain was 12 years old when the baby was born. He was 11 when the baby was conceived.
The youngest mother in the world was a Peruvian 5 year old so I'm not sure where you were going with the rest of that post...

I was just saying that it isn't exactly the worst birth ever happened, it is just the worst on in britan. So from that people shouldnt ber prejudicial, even if it was a joke. Also, did i ever say that he was 12, or eleven. Anyway, why were you on at 1:20 am? :)

You're wrong, this isn't "the worst". The youngest father in the world came from Britain - Sean Stewart, aged 12, in the 1990's

He's not a dad. He is just a father.
Either way, umm...I was listening to the video and it said "How are you going to support her financially?" and he said "What's financially?" lol. Obviously, he should learn to keep his **** to himself.
And his gf is ugly, who IS 15!
Ick.
He looks like a frickin 7 year old.
What kind of monstrosity is this?!

I saw that part on the news.
I was watching it with my mum and we just looked at each other like "What the hell?!"
I thought the boy looked quite younger than 13.

Anybody who thinks he is the daddy is a bit of an idiot. One, he looks like he is 7. Two, the mum was apparently screwing two other boys at the time.
EDIT: she was actually having sex with 6 boys on the go at the time

Personally, I've decided I don't agree with abortions, but I see where you're coming from.
Obviously she can't just abandon the baby now (well, she could, but that would just be cruel), but whatever happened to things like contraception and sex education? Sure, the boy (who's still only a baby himself!) may not be as aware of things like that (still no excuse, though), but that girl should have been mature enough to think about safety and the risk of pregnancy. Why she was sleeping with so many guys whilst underage, however, will probably have to be put down to err... British culture? (I'm not saying that all British teens have sex before they're 16 because I'm British, but it is becoming increasingly common).
Apart from that, I believe that it was the parents who spread the word on the story, just to get money. And the more money they get, the better. Slightly inconsiderate on the children, but they don't even understand it themselves ("How are you going to support her financially?" and he said "What's financially?").
It's all sad, really.

It's times like this where I really question myself on why people that are younger than 16 are having sex. It's a monstrosity in itself and that's all I can say about it. The boy doesn't look 13, but that doesn't mean he didn't have the ability to ejaculate. The girl? Don't get me started. Bags under her eyes, fat as a cow's ass, and screwing almost any boy she can find. She's just looking for trouble. The boy is partly at fault for this. If he missed sexual education classes then it's his fault. You can't just throw your education in the trash, it's something that everyone should cherish.
There are so many things to think about in raising a child. You need to be financially secure, you need to be able to pay child support among other things. You can't just have a baby because you "think it'd be cool". Sure, it's a sign of adulthood to father/mother a child, but you need to think about the consequences when you grow up. I feel sorry for the child. I don't feel sorry for the girl or the boy because they should have had the common knowledge to wait and save that moment for someone they really loved.
Having sex at such a young age can be devistating. It ruins a lot of people. 13 or 14 year olds think that they love a person and decide to have sex with them. They don't have the maturity to really and truly love someone. Even if you do use a condom, there is still a chance that it could break. He should have just waited for someone that still had their virginity and not some slut who screws every boy she meets.

all i can say is that i hope this event helps discourages young teens and kids from having sex, hardcore or softcore, without discussing it with a trustworthy adult and waiting until they are at least done with school. What a shame for those two teens. they still had a lot to do while they were "young". now they have a child.

I didn't hear about this on any news source in the US, so I don't think a lot of americans saw it.
