How do you get the dock in ubuntu?
The one that I have is Cairo Dock. You'll need to go here (http://developer.berlios.de/project/showfiles.php?group_id=8724) then click "cairo-dock_v2.0.8_x86_64_hardy.deb" it is at the bottom of the 2.0.8 list. Then click one of the downloads on the next page. When it downloads you should be able to just open it like any other program, and it will install. I deleted the bottom bar because Cairo Dock takes care of everything that that bar does.

You just right click on the taskbar, un-check the "lock the taskbar" option and drag it wherever you want, then right click and re-lock it again.

as for the dock I use a free program called rocketdock (http://rocketdock.com/)

Because I live on my own meaning I pay my own rent, cable, internet, credit card, and phone bills every month in addition to food
then there's textbooks, tuition, school supply's, vehicle maintenance, gas, etc...
Then on top of that there's the random shit that pops up without warning like a 350$ natural gas bill I wasn't supposed to have to pay

I only have so much "spending" cash to get things I would LIKE to have or to do
upgrading to 7 is not worth the cost especially considering I have ultimate so I'd need the ultimate upgrade.
I've used Vista for years
a little longer won't hurt

OK, my Vista totally fucked up yesterday so I had to install Ubuntu over it on a temporary basis while I save up for Windows 7. It's quite good IMO.

Because I live on my own meaning I pay my own rent, cable, internet, credit card, and phone bills every month in addition to food
then there's textbooks, tuition, school supply's, vehicle maintenance, gas, etc...
Then on top of that there's the random shit that pops up without warning like a 350$ natural gas bill I wasn't supposed to have to pay

I only have so much "spending" cash to get things I would LIKE to have or to do
upgrading to 7 is not worth the cost especially considering I have ultimate so I'd need the ultimate upgrade.
I've used Vista for years
a little longer won't hurt

At least here in the U.S, students can get really good prices on Win 7 and there are also other ways to get it...

No. I use a 800x600 size, and not only that, but I also used the monitor to reduce its size as well. So, virtually on 800x600, but in reality it is somewhere 500x300 pixel-like in appearance.
