but i got the zune theme for xp and i changed the backround cause the one that came with the zune theme is ugly!! and i stole the mac icons for word & powerpoint hehe!
i think it looks pretty cool now. i decided to stop trying to make my comp look like it has mac or vista, it is what it is. i would asvise outhers not to try to modify there comps like i have in the past i ran ito some issues i still havent been able to fix :(

I had one of those not too long ago. Actually, I still have it. It wasn't a bad computer.

The prices went down on a lot of the things recently. The CPU I bought went down by 50% in price about 2 months ago, which is right before I bought it.

The main problem with my computer is that I pretty much have to use x64 XP. I'm not using Vista x64, at least, not anytime soon, and I can't switch entirely to Linux. I like XP a lot, but the x64 edition just annoys me with various quarks, and issues it brings up.

Nah, I wouldn't have bought that extra 4GB of RAM if I didn't want it. :P I bought it separately from the other 4GB. I was limited to 3GB exactly with 32bit anyway. So, either way, I'd still be out of RAM using 32bit. It was pretty cheap anyway. Like 80$ after rebate for good PC8000 DDR2 4GB of RAM after rebates. Not the cheapy Value RAM with no heatsinks or dissipators.

Thought it was time I try something "New."

I've been unable to test Vista x64 since Beta 2, a few years ago. I've tested its 32bit counterpart many times, through SP1, and never liked it. Always had issues with various things.

I can say, I was quite suprised. The x64 (64bit) edition of Vista Home Premium is ridiculously better than the 32 bit version, both in preformance and stability. I had issues left and right with the 32bit, and with this, Absolutely zero. The ONLY issue I've had with anything breaking was my own fault, as I found that apparently some Visual Styles for Vista require the replacing of the BrowseUI.dll file, so you need the correct 32 or 64 bit copy of the file, and I found a theme I liked, but it wasn't specific on anything, and it apparently ended up being a 32bit file. So, when I replaced it, Explorer would no longer start. I couldn't fix it in "Normal" mode, due to the fact that it doesn't allow you to change things in the Windows Directory unless you're running in "Admin" Mode. And, apparently, you can't easily start CMD in Admin mode without explorer running.

Rebooting in Safe Mode, and running CMD allowed me to restore the file, and I was fine.

But, otherwise, the Preformance and Stability versus the 32bit version is amazingly different. It's actually something I will probably start using.

It's definately better than the x64 version of XP. Microsoft failed with that. I was getting lags everywhere.

Only issue, is I'd have to actually purchase a license for this... http://forums.govteen.com/images/smilies/sad2.gif. I'm using the 30 day "Trial" it gives you when you don't put in a key. But, meh.

Either way, I've done a lot of hacking things around and customizing things in it so far, at least in some ways, but here's what I have so far, in the two days I've had it installed:

I'm using a somewhat different Vista theme, although it looks the same there as the normal. It looks different on some of the colors when you have Explorer windows open.

The wallpaper is just one that I took a week or so ago that I thought looked nice to use for a little while as my background.

The performance Index (Although I don't really consider it a good benchmark) shows 5.9 for everything, except HDD and Gaming Graphics. It has a 5.2 for the HDD (I'm running it as a Test install on a SATA 1 Drive, which is likely why) and the video card shows a 5.7 for a eVGA GeForce 8800GS. The processor itself is a Intel Quad Q6700 Overclocked to 3.33GHz.

Actually, no, I didn't open anything "just to show."

I have a problem closing things once I open them. :P

And, actually, I had closed Firefox like 6 hours earlier.

The stuff is accumulated from 6 days of uptime, and laziness to close things.

I can't remember how many FF windows I had open earlier, but before I closed it I had like 4 windows that I remember saying 50 some tabs, and one with 71. I do use tabs.

One CMD window constantly pings my ISPs gateway, so I know when my Internet dies (Because it's been doing that a lot, slightly agrevating) and the other two, one I used to ping another site, and the other was a traceroute I hadn't closed.

I actually have 48 Explorer windows open right now (which also includes several Windows Photo Gallery windows).

There's also a Virtual Machine running in the background in the screenshot (And still) which has been running all day of Vista 32 bit, when I was screwing with something.

One thing I love about this computer, is even with all this crap running, it doesn't seem to bog it down at all. I can even run [email protected] clients on the CPU (SMP Client) and the GPU Client and still have no problems whatsoever.
