Hi,

Tommorow im getting my first ever bag of weed and i was just wondering, are they're any really bad effects that will happen to me?

Also, for the past year almost, i've been smoking. Its gradually been getting more and more , to the point where i smoke 2 a day by my self. It started as a social thing but has esculated (sp?)

I have tried to quit but all my friends do it and i found it too hard.
Any advice...?

well if you're the type to get addicted, I would suggest not smoking weed, but there aren't any imediate negative side effects.

Well i will answer both of your questions.

Marijuana side effects from an overdose include toxic psychosis including hallucinations, delusions and a loss of self-identification. Marijuana side effects include physical problems like breathing difficulties and deteriorating physical abilities. Despite a popular belief, marijuana side effects speed up the heart, blood and breathing rate. The body is taxed more and this speeds up the aging process just like methamphetamines do. The marijuana side effects from this extra exertion on the body include a higher risk for lung cancer, heart attacks and strokes.

Marijuana side effects also wreak havoc on the brain when the drug is used habitually. The natural chemical balance of the brain is disrupted affecting the pleasure centers and regulatory systems. The ability to learn, remember and adapt quickly to changes is impaired by marijuana use. Depression often occurs with marijuana usage, which feeds into the cycle of more drug use to treat the pain created by drug use. This cycle of addiction is very powerful and users soon find that they cannot stop using the drug even if they want to.

Now to quit smoking you need to just go cold turkey it is the best way to do it. My advice is if all of your friends smoke then find new friends because you won't be able to quit if you are always in the same crowd of friends where you started smoking in the first place. You will need to do a lifestyle change to stop smoking.

Marijuana has also until fairly recently been thought to increase rates of testicular cancer. However, these results are purely correlational. As for the possible side-effects, handssolo covered most of them already so I'm not going to re-iterate what he said already. But, I will say this: some people get a good reaction (relaxed, etc...) and some get a bad reaction (paranoia, etc...), and a few can have a mix or neutral. There's no way to tell what you'll get unless you try it (which is up to you, I'm not trying to encourage you).

It's best to have some social support for stopping smoking so if need be, try to tell them you want to quit and don't want to be around them when they smoke. If they refuse, then consider finding new friends.

Marijuana, although it's side affects are not as severe as some others, is still a drug. I cannot fully remember all of it's side affects, but I do know people call it the gateway drug. this is because it usually leads to other, more serious drugs. It will screw up your life if you get addicted to it, and it's easy to smell on people. I can smell it on my dad a mile away, and he was nearly arrested by the police when they came to take my mom to the hospital. Actually, he was nearly arrested twice, I don't know why they let him off the hook though. they know he was smoking it. I say they should have taken him to jail. It ruined our relationship and I want his a** straightened out! It's not something you want to try. It does you no good, only harm. Don't let it ruin your life.

The effect of weed is very different from person to person, you mayb get a good trip or a bad trip. it all depends on your original state, marijuana only makes ur original feelings stronger ( if you are happy, you will probably go hypper and extremely cheerful. if ur sad, you will feel a deep depression). the more hardcore side effects have already been stated above. Though there is no addictive chemical in weed, mentally it can get you hooked.

As for smoking, well finding new friends is hard. and you can't just abandon them because they smoke. But if you really want to quit, the best thing is to not be there when they are, and seriously just not give in. Cold turkey is the best way to quit. The more you THINK you need the more you will crave it, but if you pay no attention to it, it becomes a lot easier.

Θάνατος is just trying to scare you with false information.
While what he's saying is *TECHNICALLY* true, it holds no basis in real life.
Nobody has EVER overdosed on marijuana. EVER.
Why? because it's humanly impossible to smoke enough to overdose. you'd have to smoke so much, so fast, that you'd die of oxygen deprivaton before you overdosed.

I know it's hard to believe, so I'll chuck a few numbers in. the amount of marijuana a new user needs to smoke to get extremely high is 0.6-1 gram(absolute maximum)
The ratio of the amount one needs to smoke to overdose to the amount one needs to smoke for intoxication (just being high) is 40,000:1 .
That means that to overdose on marijuana you need to smoke forty thousand grams in one sitting. That's forty kilograms of marijuana, enough to fill about two trailers.
See how absurd that statement is now?

On to the addiction "facts" - the addiction he is talking about here is known as psychological addiction. By the same token, you can become addicted to working out, eating chicken or reading dr. zeuss while jumping on a pogo stick..
There is NO physical addiction (the addiction heroin, meth, cocaine, alcohol, tobacco, prescription medicine, and coffee causes) related to marijuana usage, none at all.

Therefore both points are technically true, but for all intents and purposes, total lies.

The only side affects of casual usage are extreme euphoria, light-headedness, enhancement of the senses, hunger, dry mouth and red-eye.
Damn that sounds horrible :P

As for your smoking habit however, that can cause serious damage and as you already know, can cause you to become addicted, locking you into this self-harming habit.
If I was you I'd just keep trying and trying to quit because even though it's hard, it's only going to get harder the longer you wait.
There are a lot of free services and websites devoted to helping people quit smoking, so get to it!

The weed wont do you that much harm. But still, it is smoke, and it is still bad for you. About the smoking...you really dont smoke that much, unless your meaning 2 packs a day. From personal experience, I like to smoke cigs when Im blazed, try that. Also...Congrats on your first bag o' weed!
