So yeah, I'm nearly positive the fan on my laptop has gone to shit. My computer has been getting really hot lately and when I start it up the fan grinds pretty loudly, but stops after like a minute.

I guess I haven't really been paying any attention to see if the fan starts up every once in a while or not, but I'm having a feeling it doesn't.

Should I take it to the place I bought it or something?

If it's still under warranty then take it back. I clean out my laptop ever few months though. The fan is usually located on the underside, and sucks up any dust off your clothes, desk or whatever you have it on, and does eventually build up to the point where it can clog up the fan.

It's easy to...

The fan on mine comes out with 3 little screws and i blasted all the dust out.

If it's still noisy then the bearings have probably worn out in the fan, and you'll need a new one.

Have you cleaned it out? If not, then I'd suggest removing it and cleaning it. If that doesn't work, then take it to a computer store and ask them about it.

Thanks! I'll try cleaning it myself, or have my brother in law do it. That is probably the problem. I'll post again after I do it.

If you have a vaccume with a hose, you can use that after you open it up.

'Course if that doesn't fix it, then get it fixed by a pro, obviouslly

Vacuum's are usually not the best idea. Air compressor(with an Anti Moisture)
attachment work the best. just remember to hold the fan instead of letting an air compressor spin it as it can damage the fins/motor in the fan, it also doesn't clean as good if you let it spin.

Don't use any air compressor. When the air comes out of those it's usually charged and will fuck everything up. Just go to the store and get a can of duster.

I have dust remover...I used it and it obviously worked. It really wasn't all that bad, but the fan is quiet again, so yeah. Thanks.
