I dont think it really matters.
If you don't have the urge not to, then I don't see a problem.
The whole stereotype thing came from people being all down in the dumps when they broke up with someone. So now, if you switch relationships quickly, everyone thinks you didn't care about the person at all, which may or may not be true.

it kinda depends on how long you were with the last person, and if it was over a year I say wait at least a month

Try not to switch to quickly, but then again, being sad and sniffly about your previous relationship isn't great either. it's really up to you. Whatever your gut reaction is is probably the right thing. Follow your heart on this one.
