Guitar (electric and acoustic) for a total of about 9 years or so but for the past 2-2.5 years I stopped playing so I could focus more on academics. Now that I have time I'm getting back into it for the past few weeks. I learned from a private teacher with the playing books and later on (including now) various guitar magazines and if possible, by ear for some songs. I was the guitarist for 2 bands, 1 which was essentially a joke so count it if you want but the other lasted for a bit longer. Although that band broke up heavily due to the bassist and a lesser degree due to the singer who wanted the band to try and go in every which-way imaginable.

I also played clarinet in band because they already had a guitarist so I got stuck with the clarinet. The good thing is that there were really no clarinet solos, at least none for me so if I cocked up, then it wasn't always very noticable.
