indie rock bands arent really mainstream, so you can go ahead and slaughter all the faggot bands you just named. and then, take a gander at saddlecreek records and team love because you havent heard real indie music if you have not heard them. If your gonna name a genere then make sure you populate it with appropriote titles.

Well yeah Kolte I whole heartedly agree, there isn't really a proper rock band in there either. But it all depends in how far you wanna go with your genres..

indie means independent.....greenday is independent now eh?

Yep I agree, but people see indie as those sort of bands, kaiser chiefs, coldplay etc. Which is wrong.
I assume he was putting green day under the rock category, well I would say they were pop punk or after the latest release possibly even just plain old pop.

I think:

Bright Eyes (whats not to love when it comes to those damn lyrics)
Aimee Mann
The Faint (I guess its more like, indie/rock/techno/dance...I'm not really sure)
Iron and Wine
Son Ambulance (just becasue of paper snowflakes n.n)
Now its overhead (I love skeliton on display)

oh for god sake - stop ur pathetic squabbling. i guess british indie/rock is different to american indie/rock. i know greenday is pop punk but its closer to rock than hiphop or classical or woteva. im freaking generalisng!

indie is independent.....the day greenday becomes an independent band is the day I love jesus. its just not gonna happen. indie......is a very narrow genere. you cant just put in rock bands because you liked them, they have to be independent bands. that means that they are from Independent record labels. I don't know any mainstream bands from indie music labels. Bright Eyes is one of the more popular indie bands out there, but like, you cant just name bands that you like, they have to be indie, unless you change the title to somthing less narrow. sorry, I'm not bothered by this, I'm just a bitch, chaow.

Sorry Patch I missed your post last night, I was pretty fucked.
Anyway yeah I edited the title to something more appropriate.
Most bands start of indie and then when they start to get big they loose that.

YAY FOR SADDLE CREEK!

bright eyes and azure ray... ear candy... super wonderful... but also... super depressing. though both bright eyes and azure ray tend to represent folk and indie pop more then indie rock...

mollys favorite band this year? Sun Kil Moon <3

mollys favorite solo artist this year? Joanna Newsom <3

other runners up? Devandra Banhart, Feist, Julie Doiron, Sia, The 6ths, The Decemberists, The Libertines, Sleater-Kinney, Mirah... the list goes on... and I know what I'm talking about...

You knows it.

No probs Heather, it was my fault.

Yeah WelshLad I am quiet particular about genres, to me its not pathetic squabbling, it is good debate.

well with rock, our lyrics consist of other words than "oh yeah baby, oh baby baby, oh yeah, oooh yeah baby baby baby yeah, i think i'm so hot"

Thta's my impression of what would happen if 50 Cent, Nelly, Bobby Valentino and some other RnB artists were to form a band

Edited by Twitcherz: Homophobic comment removed, please no more of these.

There are plenty of other words in RnB music. Also, they wouldn't form band would they. Those artists are good at the style of music they play. They are famous and they sell records so they can't be that bad.
I don't particularly like them, and you might not, but many people do.

Yes I knew you meant it in that contest, but that is asscociating being gay with things that are bad. You are basically saying being gay are shit. That is homophobic.
My favourite bands at the moment are
The Misfits
Bad Religion
Pennywise
Anti-Flag
4ft Fingers
Millencolin

That is completely irrelivant.
You used the word gay as an insult. Implying that homosexuals are in some way inferior.
Why don't you just accept that what you said was homophobic and that it should not be repeated.
