British kids roast puppies on a bonfire, alive.

A gang of children as young as 10 tried to roast these two puppies alive over a bonfire.

The yobs were spotted kicking the seven-week-old animals and holding them over a fire by a canal.

They stopped only when a passer-by heard the pups’ pitiful yelps and confronted the gang.

Melanie Johnson, 32, was walking near her home when she spotted the youths.

They dropped the pups and ran off. She said: “I just could not believe the cruelty these kids showed.

“I think they would have burned the dogs alive. Most of the kids were 12, 13 or older. But some were about 10.”

Melanie took the pups to the RSPCA animal shelter near her home in Rochdale, Gtr Manchester, where they were cleaned up and examined by a vet.

Centre manager Jean Spencer said: “The pups are only seven weeks old. They were very frightened when they came in after such a terrible ordeal.

“The girl pup, who we’ve called Cinders, had her fur singed. The boy, who we’ve named Guy after Guy Fawkes, has a small hernia.

“We’re concerned about where the children got the pups. Are there more in the litter?

“The kids ran away so we’ve not been able to find out who they were or what they thought they were doing.

“We need people with information to get in touch so we can investigate this awful incident properly.”

*heart-string number 47: tugged* What the hell is wrong with kids these days? I'm glad the puppies are going to be ok, but who decided that was a good idea? Those kids should be in juvenile hall for that, it is NOT ok. In my mind, torturing animals is no better than torturing a person. They still feel the same pain and fear as we do, but they can't make the same amount of ruckus. Dogs can be loud, but they can't yell, "Help!" or similar calls of distress. Most people would hear an animal yelping like that and not assume a person was hurting it, unless they could hear people as well.

Young Ashton gets hit over the head and is unconscious, and when he wakes up all that's left is the mangled and burnt bag, which you know has the dead dog in it. That scene horrified me, and I can't imagine something like that happening in real life. It's unforgivable.

It's seems almost impossible that something like that would actually happen in reality. It's repulsive.
I really hope they get caught because these kids need to experience excruciating pain themselves, just to see what it's like. Animals have just as much a purpose living as humans do.
