Today during one of my classes I thought of something. Does anyone here know of the quarter game? How it works is one person starts a quarter spinning on its side, then each person playing takes turns flicking it to keep it spinning. If someone makes it stop they have to place their fist, knuckles down on the table (or wherever) and everyone else has one try to slide the quarter at that person's hand as hard as they can. After everyone's done that it starts over. Of course after a while if people have hit you enough times your knuckles would start bleeding. Is that considered as self-harming?

I'm not sure if it would be considered self harm. I don't recommend this game though. Guys in my school used to play it. Think about it, quarters are dirty, and you are getting cut with them. Germs? Yuck!

I don't think its really self harm.
Just a stupid game, probably to test 'manliness'
And to trade blood borne disease!

Erm... it wouldn't really be "self-harming" as much as just a stupid game that people play. You are letting people do it, yes, but it's more because it's part of the game than anything else. So, no, that isn't really self harming in a literal sense.
Now, if you made yourself fail when it was your turn just to make it so people would hurt you, yes, that would be self harm in a way.

I really don't think so. But it isn't somthing I think you would want to do.

Okay, it is self harming. Harm to one's self. But not the kind of self harming that this forum tends to be dedicated.
I don't understand how it hurts you to slide a quarter... but okay.

It hurts... A lot. Lol.
And it can makes you bleed which brings me back to my other comment; it can transfer AIDs and other blood borne diseases.

Probably on a technicality yes... but normally self-harm is more like intentonally hurting yourself to help cope with another problem
Makes me think "WTF" though.. seriouslly, a quarter?

I don't really consider it to be self-harm because it's not YOU that is inflicting the pain upon yourself. Because it's not YOU who is sending the coin against your skin. We don't even call it that here. We call it 'Bloody Knuckles' and the people in my area that play it really bust up their knuckles real good. My brother used to play it a lot until our parents realized what he was doing. So he stopped.
They don't use quarters here. They use nickels because they seem to be heavier.. So they say. >_>

Sooo the collective answer is no. But yeah, I know it's just a dumb game. I played it once about 3 years ago... never planned on doing it again, though it was entertaining in a way.

There's a different thing here that we call bloody knuckles. Two people each make a fist and they take turns hitting the other person's fist, and when someone opens their fist they lose... I haven't seen people playing either of those games anymore though.

Both things I think are kinda dumb. I really don't see the point in them.
The knuckle game looks like it's pretty much died out completely. It's sad that I 'played' it when I was like... eight years old. Lol.
