hey, im a second semester junior who's seriously considering taking a gap year between high school and college.

has anyone else taken a gap year? or planning to take one? what are they doing? and if you have taken one, would you suggest it?

ill be graduating at 17, and I love to travel, so I really want to be able to volunteer for humanitarian organizations around the world for a year, but is that a wise decision academically?

Well,I'm only in the 8th grade, but ever since I was a young kid I always wanted to just go straight to college. Don't take that year, start college and finish so you have the rest of your life to do whatever you want.

i am meeting with my college counselor tomorrow, so thanks guys.

I'll prolly end up taking a gap year. I've heard so many great things about the experience, but it's always nice to get some other opinions

I'm taking a gap year between post-secondary and university.

I'm planning on backpacking around, probably in Asia because I'm broke and Asia is cheap. I'd like to visit China.

Alternatively, I'd love to visit Japan and the Kodokan, get a membership, some good japanese judo training and a new judogi.
