I have a math test tomorrow, which I am kind of comfortable with the material. I usually do pretty well on my math tests, which is a good thing.
On Tuesday however, I have an Earth Science Test. I'm not totally comfortable with the material, and I am a horrible test taker in that subject. As soon as I write my name on the paper you might as well be handing a 4 year old the test. It's like I've never seen any of the material before. I have to guess at most questions, and I just barely pass usually. My best grade was a 91% which was on a chapter that I had already studied before. Other than that my test grades have been in the low to mid 70's. Which is horrible for me. The only thing that keeps my average up in that class is my labs, which I do well on.
Just a rant. I dunno.

If they are multiple choice instead of looking for the right answer start by looking for as many wrong answers you can find and cross them out, you can usually eliminate 2 of them that way and you have a 50% chance of guessing right. also calm down being nervous is one of the worst things you can do during a test! you can also study until you do fell comfortable with the material...

One thing you can do it type your notes again. By doing this is helps retain bit better because you are going over the material over a few times while you are typing. I started doing that a couple of years a go and I was able to retain the information a lot easier than just going over my notes. Do not use copy and paste method retype your notes it definitely helped me.
One thing to also realize while taking the test avoid always and every answers usually they are there to throw you off. Multiple choice test also have two answers that are complete opposites of each other so you throw those two questions out. Then you have a 50/50 chance on the two remaining answers. If all else fails C is the answer that is used most on computer generated tests.
I hope these tips will help you out.

try flash cards. those help with formulas or faults and stuff. and i agree with handsolo. redo ur notes. but i recommend writing instead typing. ur brain retains writing.

What's odd is that I am a good test taker, but studying is my thing. What I suggest is if its like vocab or actually this could go for all situations write whatever it is over and over again. Alot of people do that and it seems to work.

i feel your pain autumn. i can study my ass off but when the exam begins its like i know nothing, which results in me stressing and making the most stupidest of mistakes. i've tried some different ways to improve my mental state before exams with some success, but i think the bottom line is that some people can just handle exams better then others. when you enter the exam room autumn, take some deep breaths and tell yourself that you know all this stuff and to stay calm. as strange as that sounds, i do it sometimes, and its helped me a little.
