First of all, an explanation of Scottish Exams:
Your Standard Grades are the first proper exams you sit, taken when you are 15/16 years old. This year they will be in May. The grades you can get for Standard Grades range from 1 (the best) to 7 (a fail).
After this, as long as you are 16 before July 1st, you can leave and get a job. Not the best job, but a job. Or, you can stay at school and study towards your Highers, taken between a year and 2 years after you Standard Grades.

This is my problem:
I'm due to sit my Standard Grades in May, and if my Preliminary (Mock) Exam results are anything to go by (overall 1 in English, overall 1 in Chemistry, overall 1 in Biology, overall 2 in Maths, overall 2 in Geography, overall 2 in Music (Listening exam let me down-my Practical exam (drums and guitar) was flawless) and overall 3 in French (don't give a damn about French:P)) then I should get good marks. However, before we take our Standard Grades, we have to pick which subjects we take for Higher, and we have to take a minimum of 5, until our last year at school, where we can drop some. I've decided to take Maths, English, Chemistry and Biology, but I'm stuck on whether to choose Geography or Music. I feel that Geography can get pretty stale (that's putting it lightly) sometimes, while although I would love Music Practical, the Listening is a b***ch. I was bordering on choosing Geography, but then I realised I would have to forfeit my School Drum Lessons, and belive you me it's a pain in the buttocks finding another drum tutor.
So what do you guys think? Geography or Music?

What you need to think about is, will Geography have any practical use for you once you're out of school? How important to you will it be, and will it have any practical applications in your life?

Now, I believe aside from the normal studies, everyone needs some sort of fine art. It makes you a more well-rounded person, and it can also take the drag out of a lot of school days when you just need a break from your normal subjects.

In the end it's your choice, but if you don't really need geography, I would have to say music.

P.S., don't let this opinion sway you in a way you don't want to go. Think things over.

As a future music major myself, Id deffinatly go with music. And good percussionists are hard to come by (as a conductor I know). Its better than studing about some country that, lets face it, might not be there in 20 years. Now its your decision but you should weigh your options.
