In some religious cultures...it is apparently considered a sin. But unless your religious..there's nothing to worry about it. Almost everyone does it.

If you ARE religious and you aksed a priest if it is a sin...they will probably say 'yes', but it is widely argued, especially on here if it actually says in the bible whether it's a sin or not. Personally I can't see how it can be.....

Lust is one of the seven deadly sins, however, these seven deadly sins were created by the church. They are not stated in the bible. They were set up by Pope Gregory in about 590 A.D. When Christianity was created, it wasn't nearly as strict as it became in the Dark Age.

Some people think the seven deadly sins are horrible things, but they have been scientifically proven to genetics and biology. There was actually a week long special on the History Channel about this. I couldn't be bothered to watch all of it, but I watched some of it.

Everyone masturbates, it's a universal activity. Imposing some kind of religious sanction on it misses that point, and serves only to unnecessarily torment otherwise good people and True Believers for something they basically have no control over.

Um. Lust is mentioned a good dealin the Bible. Its not just made up by Catholics.

Masturbation is a sin by the fact that you are having lustful thoughts during it. Hence, you are being lustful. Also, when people ignore this, and then put masturbation above God (Luke 16:15), as in ignoring directly what the Bible says, they are idoling sex, which is breaking all the ten commandments(matthew 5:17-19).

Not to mention if you sin in your mind, you sin in the eyes of God. Its this verse that I can't seem to lay my hands on right now, but thats how it is. So, if your kill someone in your mind, in God's eyes, you murderd. If you commit adultery even in your head, you've sinned.

Whatever your religion your God loves you and has made you as you are. This includes sexual urges & bodily needs which you can not control. If God didn't want you to wank he would have made your arms shorter.

It depends what religion. I am roman catholic, and for our church, it is a sin. Ask your priest/pastor/minister.

People ask me why I hate Christianity so much. And this is the answer.

I hate the way it limits people like this. I hate the way that they take human instinct and nature and turn it into something vile and wicked. People shouldn't have to feel guilty over doing something so natural as masturbation. Sin doesn't apply to me. But I do know that when I went to church, they discussed it and concluded that it was a Sin.
