Prom King and Queen

I don't know if this is in the right place, or what... just move it if it isn't.

Anyway, after hearing a bunch of gossip and talking to people on the prom committee, I'm pretty sure my girlfriend is going to be the prom queen. However, they said I probably won't even be nominated for prom king. Since I've never been to a prom before, and never really worried about it before, how is this going to work out?

Like I said, I have no idea what I'm talking about, but aren't the prom king and queen supposed to be a couple or something? Are the king and queen going to have to dance together?

It would be so fucking embarrassing if my girlfriend was prom queen and I had to stand in the crowd and watch her dance with another guy...

From what I understand, the prom queen and king don't have to be a couple. So, your girlfriend wold have to dance with the prom king. So if you're not king, you'll have to watch them dance.

The prom king and queen do not need to be a couple.

It is whoever is voted for the title. If she is voted queen, just suck it up and be happy for her. It is a very nice feeling to be declared queen of something, she will be happy. Congratulate her. There's not really anything you can do about it.

Prom King and Queen has nothing to do with romance, it's more about popularity for the most part. If your girlfriend has to dance with the king, it'll just be one dance, and he won't be trying to make a move or anything. Like Autumn said, just be happy for her. :)

And hey, even if some other guy gets voted prom king, you get to say you're dating her. xP
