View Full Version : Circumcision dilemma(its kinda long)

Okay well I'm uncut and unfortunately happen to have a short frenulum. I have visited a urologist who has been great and explained everything to me in a very adult manner. He was given me two options to decide from, one being a full blown circumcision as in high and tight. The next option that he offered me was to get a frendectomy which just removes the short frenulum and nothing else. Either way I lose the frenulum(which i don't care for in the first place) and have the same amount of sexual down time. Now my best friend thinks that it's a good idea to get cut(he is cut btw and most of my friends are) but he also thinks that it's cool that I have a foreskin and have the choice which just makes me more conflicted. My girlfriend personally prefers cut guys, but she thinks that my foreskin is a great accessory that adds to the fun. She is very supportive of my choice, whatever it may be. Now my dad almost collapsed on the floor when he heard that I might want to get circumcised and yelled at me for about half an hour about it but now has come to just accept my dicision but is constantly telling me that I shouldn't get cut(my mom doesn't know btw). I know this was kind of long but its a major life decision that I'm going to be stuck with for 60 more years so if you could help me decide and give me constructive input I would be eternally grateful. :D

well why do you have to get cut in the first place? do you have a "condition" or is it just a choice?

He's got a tight fren.

Dude, get your fren fixed then see how it goes for a bit once you are all healed up.
You will then be able to keep it skinned back if you like and you can still have the fun of the accesory and pull over for protection and sensitiviy when you need it (and keep all those lovely nerve endings!!)

Cut the frenelum. You can always be cut later if you decide to!

Just like cutting hair. You can always cut more off.

why do you think he should not get circumszed?

beacuse it gets ur glans less sensibile, and its anyway kind of a mutilation. He can decide to have it in the future, now it s useless to solve his problem. I had it too so I know what i`m talking about ;)

It's just fascinating to me that so many have such strong emotion about this, when it doesn't really affect them! I wonder if they'd feel the same way about a hair style, or is it just the word "penis" that gets's everyone going?

Anyway, I think there's a few things that add to the drama here. First, your dad's reaction is rather extreme, i wonder why he feels so strongly about this? If he left you with your foreskin b/c he felt it was your 'choice', I'm not sure why he'd react so strongly to that choice now. I also don't know why your mom doesn't know. This isn't just about your penis, it's a medical procedure on her minor child, she has a right to know, yes?

Aside from all that, and all the emotion b/c it's your beloved penis, I have to wonder what the point of removing the frenulum only is? That would be like taking the elastic ribbing out of the sweater sleeve, the foreskin wouldn't be attached anymore to the underside of the glans ("Head"), which would render a large part of it, the 'gliding action', impossible. It would merely slide all the way down the length of your penis, and like the sleeve analogy, would seem to get in the way of the function of the 'hand' (in your case, the penis). Other than a familiar appearance when not erect, I fail to see the advantage of this procedure.

This notion that you 'could always go back for more to be removed' isn't realistic, the discomfort would probably be a deterrent to that. Likewise, the 'high and tight' procedure isn't the only option for a full circ: You could ask the doc to leave as much of the inner foreskin as possible, as well as the frenulum (once it's detached from the foreskin it wouldn't be a problem, and you'd have extra skin with both as that 'acccessory').

I think if your dad was a bit less hysterical and less self involved here, AND your mom knew, you could get some rational input from some people who not only know you pretty well, but also have had some life experience as well. Unfortunately, you don't seem to be able to count on that, Chris, so you're on your own here. Whatver you choose, believe me, there's really not a whole lot of difference, and whatever you choose, it'll be far superior to what you've got now, if only b/c your penis will finally work properly.

i think i have a similar problem. i can pull my foreskin back almost all the way off of the head, and then its hurts kind of so i pull it back up. is that kind of what this disease is?

In the end its your choice, I personally would just get the fren. cut. and keep the foreskin.

I think your choice is a difficult one, but you have to do what is best for your long-term health. It is clear that you have a problem for you having had to see an urologist, and my thinking is that a full blown circumcision will more or less guarantee you a relatively problem free future. I think that you will not have to worry about foreskin issues in the future if you are cut, and my understanding is the difference between being cut and uncut is negligible in the great scheme of things. If being cut will avoid future doctor's visits, then I would take a circumcision. At least that way you know things will be fine for sure whereas the other procedure still has the possibility of problems in the future if you develop an infection or some sort of issue.

About 50% of 15 y/o have a problem with full retraction, so your condition might be typical. This is caused due to a lack of ongoing retraction, so the elasticity there isa bit atrphied from lack of use. Stretch it gradually, and it should be OK.

Frenulum Breve ('Short foreskin") is an actual physical problem, the frenulum (that piece of skin on the underside of the penis that attaches the foreskin to the glans) is too short, even fully stretched, there's just not enough of it, so the foreskin cannot be retracted.

u have made a very wise choice.
u can still opt to get the rest cut off later in life if u get any problems but I think this will fix u for now :D

I wouldn't get cut. I mean, I wish I still had a foreskin. I've heard they're a lot of trouble to keep clean though. But you've had one for fourteen years so I'm sure you know how to do that. I think you should keep it.

I believe that you should have the frenulum remove since you are so indecisive because as i understand it you can always get a full circumcision later in life if you decide you really want one. I think that foreskins are kinda cool and i wish i want cut myself.

Edit: I now see that you have already made your decision, i think you make the right choice though.
