ABout half of my school is sick with this really nasty cold. It has kept a bunch of kids out, and I am still sitting next to kids who refuse to go home. I have been feeling extra tired, and even had a 100 fever a day ago... Yet I still haven't gotten the sneezing and coughing that accompanies the cold. What should I do to avoid getting this cold? I am taking vitamin c drops, but what else?
midterms are next week, and we are reviewing, so...

Colds and the Flu are most typically spread thru droplet infection, those micro drops of water vapor which are expelled when you sneeze and cough. So, staying a good distance from an infected person is a good idea.
But, THE single, biggest thing you can do to prevent infecting yourself (in addition to avoiding getting too close), is to wash your hands frequently. That's because people cough and sneeze and tocuh their mouths and noses and the germs go on their hands. From those hands the germs pass onto all kinds of surfaces as people go about their lives touching and handling things. These nasties remain alive and active, waiting for you to touch that surface and eventually your mouth, nose or eyes, when the Rhino virus enters your body and infects you with the cold or flu.
So, frequent hand washing, and keeping a good distance form infected people are your best bet.
The studies about vitamin C (some say the mineral zinc, too), are mixed, at best, so dosing up on them isn't necessarily going to prevent infection.

Eat healthy, get plenty of sleep, keep stress low, and just generally take good care of your body. Washing your hands also keeps a lot of the germs away :) Supposedly, it does nothing if you wash your hands without water. If you do wash with soap, your supposed to wash them for at least 15 seconds or something.
Hope you stay well! :)

The flu is a tough thing to hide from!
But what i suggest and do my self, keep up with your vitamins and fruit and excersize.
Usually going to bed handy, and getting good rest allways keeps things running smooth.

I heard that u should keep fit and eat fruit and veg, this helps your body working in the right condition to build up your immune system and reject any infections.
