How tall are you, if you don'tmind me asking?

Okay. First things first, you should go and see a doctor.

They can analyse your situation and see if you have any health problems that could be related to your loss of appetite and weight loss etc.

Then they can work with you to help get you eating a healthier diet that will help you to gain weight, if necessary or at least just maintain your current weight.

They'll also advise you on excercise and stuff like that.

Just some things that you may want to know:

During puberty, you gain weight. This is fat which is essential for your growth. When the fat is no longer needed you will lose it. Sometimes this is a fast process, however, most of the time it isn't. Since everyone develops at different paces, there is no set time for when you should be losing that fat.

Some people can get diseases, like ostoeporosus [sorry, I don't know how it's spelled] which is brittle bones. This can make you lose weight or sometimes happens by losing too much weight or having a poor diet.

Until you talk with your doctor, you won't know for sure hat your problem is. It may be something to worry about, but it may not.

It's better to be safe than sorry, though.

Goodl uck, hun. :)

You aren't too skinny, I weigh around 8 stone 7lbs - 9 stone and I'm size 8/10.
Don't be offended, but 9 stone is definitely not skinny, but it is pretty slim. In fact you sound perfectly fine and healthy to me.

Don't worry about it, maybe they were just giving you compliments.

Just because you have lost some weight doesn't mean that you are too skinny.

By most standards, you sound healthy.

You are a healthy weight. Try not to worry too much. I would definitely recommend talking with your doctor if you are still concerned though. They can put your mind at rest.

Okay, you need some reassurance, and the facts.
Weighing 9 stone at 5'3 isn't skinny at all, it's normal and healthy. And are your family medical experts? Probably not, but neither am I but still. I weigh less than you (8 and a half stone) and I'm a little bit taller (5'4) and I don't consider my self skinny in the slightest! I usually see myself as fat at times but that's just me...

You have nothing to worry about, and it's unnessecery for you to gain or lose weight. You should just maintain your weight.

OK, so that's 5'3 and 120-ish pounds right?

Is the rest of your family overweight? Maybe it's just a really really warped compliment
I've gotten those before.

I don't mean to offend you but you are definitely not too skinny.

That sounds mean but I'm just saying that you should not worry about it at all.

You sound healthy.

Nothing is wrong with you. I'd like to affirm what everyone else has been saying. When comparing you to your height, you cannot be considered underweight.

Before I tell you why you are not underweight, I'd like to mention this:
To gain weight, consume more calories than you burn.
To lose weight, consume less calories than you burn.

Besides adipose tissue (fat), the only other significant factor for weight is muscle tissue. Building up more lean muscle tissue will increase a person's weight, whereas losing lean muscle tissue will decrease a person's weight.

But you are not underweight.
You have a BMI (Body Mass Index) of 22.32.

People whose BMI is within 18.5 to 24.9 possess the ideal amount of body weight, associated with living longest, the lowest incidence of serious ilness, as well as being perceived as more physically attractive people than persons with BMI in higher or lower ranges

You (5'3" and 126 pounds) would have to lose approximately 22 pounds (nearly 2 stones) to be considered underweight.

There's no reason to be concerned if you lost some weight and people are complementing you about it.
