Telling them what to do would be the best thing I think. Communicating with each other will make it much better, as only you know what feels good, and if you tell him what feels good and what doesn't, he'll know what to do, and make it much better for both of you.

I can understand how a guy could get offended, but in my mentality, its not just about me. Communication is so key. No way you'll know if the other person is enjoying it too unless they tell you. :P And, it would help confidence to have someone tell you that you are doing it right, wrong, whatever, so you can get it right and boost your confidence once you do.

I also think that your guy's reaction confirms that just b/c someone is physically mature enough for sex, that doesn't automatically mean they're emotionally mature for it, either. With time, most guys come to realize sex isn't just about them and their pleasure.
