Are You Like Your Parents?

Okay, so hands down, its been proven that the single largest influence on your life is your same sex in house parent figure. And the biggest influence period are your parents (assuming you have a relationship).

But my question is, do you think you are similar to your parents (obviously besides looks)

Mannerisms, political ideaology, out look on life, values, etc.

Then, do you think you are more like your father or mother? And why?

I have no father, but me and my mother have much in common. We're both reclusive, obsessional people who suffer from extreme amounts of loneliness. : P

We have a really strong link and it's probable that I'll take care of my mother until she dies.

i have picked up a few of my mum's traits. she's a worrier, i'm a worrier. she was good at the same subjects that i am at school now. we both know how to save money and we both always prepare ourselves mentally for the worst possible scenario in all situations and are rarely positive about anything.

as for my dad. its mostly looks. not much personality traits other then that we have similar interests in some things. thats about it.

I hope I don't turn into my dad. He's a fucking monster, and if I turn into anything like him, I'll kill myself before I have kids. He always has to be right, if he's wrong, he'll abuse you verbally and sometimes even physically until he's right. He'll use lies, deception, and even threats to get what he wants. He's a chronic gambler. He disappears for hours on end and gets pissed all the time over the stupidest things. He can't handle sarcasm without going into a frenzy and he's just an asshole... I mean, sometimes he's nice, but I can't tell whether its true niceness or just him being deceptive, tricking me into thinking he's a loving father when he's really not.

I did inherit some athletic ability from him, I inherited my high metabolism from him, I inherited his "intelligence," but I also inherited his tendencies to lash out at people and get angry at the littlest things... From my mom I inherited my ability to love and to care for others more than myself, my shyness, my depression, my common sense, my respect for others, etc... I think both of them gave me some bad things, but at least I've gotten some good things from them.

I also don't like alcohol or cigarettes and I stay away from drugs, because both my parents rarely drink and never smoke or do drugs (my mom has never smoked, and my dad smoked once but hated it; and to my awareness my mom has never done drugs, though my dad did take some hallucinogens back in college). I also share my dad's political ideas (for the most part) and I share both my parent's views on the current government, the future government, the economy, etc....

The only thing I don't agree with them on is their hatred of guns and of war, because I think I might want to be a marine, maybe I just want to do it because I know it would piss off my dad; kind of be a way to get back at him for all these years of hatred and torment, but I don't really know. I like guns, I like war, and as long as its not a pointless war (maybe even if it is a pointless war), I wouldn't mind getting involved and helping my country.

I'm not exactly patriotic (which I probably get from my dad), but I'm willing to support my country in a war... Maybe its because I wonder what its like to kill another man, maybe its because of my obsession with guns, maybe its because I want to serve and protect the people of my country, maybe its because I'm just that pissed at my dead, I don't really know...

But yeah, the person I'm most like, and the person I hope to stay most like is my mom. Unlike my dad I've managed to keep my anger in check since around 8th grade when my anger almost permanently fucked up my life.

I have the temper of both my parents... which, can be bad-to-abusive...
Lack of logic annoys me, a lot. Same with the both of 'em. I can't stand people who say something "because I said so". That is NOT a reason.
I have the same talent in mathematics and languages my mother has.

i don't want to ever have kids.. i know what i'm like, and it would hurt them too much...

I definatly have my father's temper. But my mindset and the way I act definatly came from my mom. I always keep a calm warming face, and I believe that all people are good despite the fact that they make mistakes. Because some mistakes have the ability to change one's future for the better.

-I have alot of his beliefs and views, but i've progressed my own too.
-There's all sorts of bits and bobs that I take after my dad from, clumsiness etc

-Love of History
-Same as dad really, I guess I'm very well equally balanced..there's not one whom I'm more like than the other.

Well, I'm more cynical than my father. We are both Democrats, yet he is more of a fiscal democrat, and I care about both morals and money. I look nothing like my father, only a little. I look more like my mom. That's about it.

im so much like my mum its not funny cuz everyone says i have her traits, i have her temper and wisdom, funny, outgoing, and looks.

my dad on the other hand is my polar opposite. we have nothing in common not in looks or anything, plus i hate him, hes an arrogant asshole (sorry if to descriptive)...

I talk like my dad, but my dad really doesn't have very much personality, so I'm not really like him much.

I'm not really too much like my mom either...kind of snoopy...I like to know what's going on with other people, so I can get snoopy from time to time, but nothing bad.

I'm not really like either of my parents, really.

my real parents.. well i hope i never end up my mom. and dad? dont know him.
but people tell me i look exactly as my mom does. i have the same shortness, hair, nose, eyes. its really weird.Ive seen a bunch of pictures when she was younger and it was like looking in a mirror. I guess i have the same temper as her too.. my aunt always tells me. Sadly my brother the same but his temper can be worse. and he's already following her footsteps with drugs. i hate when people compare me to her. i get so angry... she will never be a role model in my life. the memories hurt too much

I have my dad's problems with addiction. I have my mother's serenity. I'm not much like either of them when it comes to world view, religious beliefs, or style. I don't look much like either one of them, either.

I have my moms temper... which only gets out when my sister talks to me... I have my dads... uhh... well, everything about me besides my temper is the same as my dads... we both have the same personality and love the same stuff and both like to cook, but people say I'm more like my mom, which I have to disagree with completely, but, whatever

On some ways we are VERY similiar... I doubt we are much different I just thing that 2 very charismatic, stubborn people are prown to get into bloody arguements especially regarding technology, politics xD
