Okay... so my parents have been separated for all my life and divorced since 1997(i was 3) and all I've seen in my life from my family has been hate, anger, violence, and extreme degradation of my self-esteem and general emotional state due to my parents. I have a horrible miss-trust in women because of what my mother has done to me in the past and I hate men because...well that's a different thread. If there is anyone who can help me with this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Dude, it sounds like you're goin through a really rough time...

I know it will be hard but you have to realise that not all people are like that, you just have to learn to trust people again, which will be hard as i said b/c people will let you down sometimes.

Another thing that you might want to think about is how you will set an example. If you have a kid, then make sure that you and your partner set a better example than your parents have for you.

I hope i helped, pm me if you feel like it and tell me how your goin, also if u prefer msn i can give u my adress,

I am very sorry, and I am proud of you for asking some advice. We are not all blessed with great parents. I think what you need to do is live life your way, and not to bring your past. The past has to stay away from your current life. If you keep bringing up what your mom and dad have done to you, you will never heal, and you will keep feeling depressed. Of course, I bet what you're thinking. This guy doesn't even know what I am going through!

I have suffered through some stuff; however, I see different because I look at my parents problems, and realize that I can have a way better life. I hope everything works out for you.

I recall this cartoon I saw in The New Yorker magazine a while back, I don't know if any of you are familiar with that magazine, but it's cartoons are world famous. There was this one of the inside of a movie theater and, and the caption was "Annual meeting for the adult children of normal parents", and scattered in the near empty audience section were just 3 people!

Everyone has something, you sound like you've unfortuantely had more than your fair share. If I can help, let me know.
