This happened to me all the time until I decided to invest in a PS3. Get a damp towel (NOT WET!!!) and cover your 360 with it, leave it for a while and then you should have it fixed but it wont last, so you are probably better sending it away or getting a PS3 :)
If you dont understand my instructions youtube 360 and towel, you should get plenty of walkthroughs.

How old is it

if its under 12 months it will be under guarantee meaning Microsoft will fix it for free.

Ring of Death is covered for 3 years from the day you bought your 360. So you should be fine, just call 1-800-469-9269 or 1-800-4my-xbox, and they'll fix it for free, it takes about a month.

It should be fine, the max times you can have it is 3, then it'll break forever and that is when you get angry, not now. Simply just wit a little while, it always worked for me when it happened to me(twice).

If its under cover still then get it fixed by them since if you do the towel method or open it up your invalidate your repair cover.

It takes about a month but you get a xbox live 1 month card if it does.

I have to agree, get a PS3. There is no such thing as the red rings of death on a ps3.

Just whatever you do don't do the "towel trick" where you wrap the xbox and try to heat it up. It ruined a friends xbox.

If you want to screw around go to the forum games area, it gets annoying when you ask for help and people are being annoying on purpose.

Yeah, DON'T do the towel trick, it broke my friend's xbox completely so he had to send it off to get it fixed. I'm sure you can survive on PC games for a month :P .

microsoft made the 3 red rings to say that a issue had been found and to prevent it from never working again, send it off to be repaired. the ps3 will get errors but wont show it. meaning, that if a fan is blocked or something isnt right, itll mostlikly burn out and die.

also, Sony released a update that caused 90,000 PS3's to stop working and just give them a black screen of duum.

yeah, glad i got microsoft tbh

i just had this problem with my xbox, microsoft were really helpful, just send it off, it only took mine two weeks, do not try to fix it yourself as they will know and it will invalidate your warrenty, and the towel trick is only a tempory solution, just dont do what i did and lose the hard drive while the xbox is away! >.<

My Xbox 360 got the RRoD once, and it miraculously fixed itself somehow. I thought it was broken, so I didn't touch it for about one month, and when we set it up again it was working as good as new. So maybe try leaving it alone for a while and then setting it back up? It worked for me. (lol I think)

Mind you, I rarely ever go on my Xbox. I only have three games on it, at the moment (Call of Duty: World at War, Gears of War 2 and some Need For Speed game). I'm planning to get more games for it when I have the time.

i dont uderstand how the towel method works. you bake the xbox for ages that melts the soulder crap inside and spreads round the circuits and stuff then it drys!! how does that sound helpful!!!! it dosn't.

find a tall building and drop that damb xbox off the roof, then on the way home still laughing pick yourself up a nice shiny ps3!!!!!!!!! problem solved no more red ring worries with no dodgy DIY methods of how to fix it!
