A married teacher had sex with a 13-year-old boy more than 300 times after "weaving" her way into his life as a surrogate mother figure, a US court has heard.

Christine McCallum, 29, has been charged with 11 counts of statutory rape relating to an alleged affair that took place between February 2006 and November 2007 in Rockland and Abington, Massachusetts, the Boston Globe reports.

Prosecutors said McCallum, a primary school teacher, regularly took the teenager and his younger brother into her house to support the boys' single dad, offering them food, somewhere to sleep and help with their schoolwork.

But McCallum also violated the older boy beginning with when she stole his virginity on a couch as her husband slept upstairs, the court heard.

The pair then allegedly had sex hundreds of times over the next couple of years, including unprotected encounters in the shower and on the kitchen and living room floors.

McCallum has denied all the allegations and was seen in court clutching her husband's hand.

“She tried to mother the child because she felt sorry for them," her lawyer Frederick McDermott said.

The alleged affair was exposed when a friend of the boy told his mother the pair were having sex.

She passed the information onto the boy's father, who contacted police.

The boy later told police he and McCallum had sex almost "every other day", often right under her husband's nose, prosecutors said.

They allegedly had sex for the last time in November 2007 after McCallum discovered the boy had been texting other girls and became jealous.

I can see why a kid would think about a relationship with a teacher in his head.
That can be explained and is possibly reasonable.

You really need to pay attention. The kid has no bragging right with friends. It's not nice to get laid at 13, especially when it's someone twice your age.

You're 17. I'm sure that you'd find it disturbing to get laid by some 55 year old woman. I'm sure that this kid found it weird, but 13 year olds have raging hormones, so I could see why he did it.

The boy could have stopped having sex with his teacher but he carried it on for two years. I am sure he knew what he was doing and enjoyed what he was doing.

Now the teacher is very warped for two reasons. One because she had sex with one of her students and was twice this guy's age. Second she tried to act as a second mother to the guys and his younger brother. She developed trust and then took advantage of him.

Age is just a number. It shouldn't mean anything.

However, in this case it's still wrong. The decision making part of your brain isn't fully developed until you're 18, which is why that's when you're allowed to buy cigarettes. You can't make your best decisions until that part of your brain is finished developing.

The thing about this is yes they both did it willingly but when you are 13 all you are thinking about is sex and you don't necessarily think about the consequences.

The boy probably looked up to his teacher for advice so what is he going to think when she says it's ok to have sex with her?
It is the adults responsibility to make the right choice in this situation not the child.
