View Full Version : My dog hates most women...

She's a two-year-old pit bull and ever since my oldest brother adopted her without any warning over a year ago she violently barks at most women, especially girls and younger women, and jumped on one recently. She never bit any one of them, but she may've if we haven't pulled her away from them. (That certainly would've gotten rid of her, though.) Why is this happening?

It could be that the dog (especially since it was adopted) was abused by a woman before, and it associates women with bad.
My advice would be going to a dog trainer, or to a vet, and trying to see what they can do to help her get over her fear of women!

Be sure to raise your pitbull correctly. They are very sweet dogs once trained, but quite bothersome when not.
Towns have laws against pitballs sometimes because 90% of dog owners suck with their pets or abuse them.
I'm not an expert on dog training but you should try looking around for tips when introducing a dog to something they hate, like a car. The important tip is to go slowly.

Jason is saying this all much nicer than I would. I'm a dogaholic, but frankly I draw the line with pit bulls. Unfortunately, they're a derivative of the sweet and lovely Am. Staffordshire terrier, bred specifically to be agggressive (remembering that all dogs are bred to serve a purpose beyond being pets). The fact that she's 'adopted' at an older age suggests that *something* isn't quite right here, why isn't she with her original family?
Who knows why she's 'aggressive' with females, but if she is, you'd do very well to wacth her very carefully AND get a good trainer involved here. The results could be *unknown* otherwise, and when you use the word 'aggressive' to decribe her temperment, it's ominous.

I have a black labrador and he seems to be really aggressive around people who are obese, wearing a hat and indian or black. It's pretty easy to control him though because he's well trained and does whatever he's told to do, but I think he's just a bit frightened by those types of people.
Dogs are weird like that :)

My dog barks but doesn't bite. When I have friends over, sometimes he runs in my room, barks a few times at my friends and runs back. It's so random, it's hilarious.
When you actually approach him though he's very tame. He licks quite a lot. It seems that the first thought in his little Yorkie head when he sees human flesh is "MUST LICK!"
He's a Yorkshire Terrier. These dogs are too small for me (big bulky man needs to play with big bulky dog) but he's still a good dog :> Very funny and incredibly random.
I'm actually the only one he obeys to. My mom is much too sweet and protective with him and he walks all over her with his shitall 5 pounds. I'm the alpha male of the pack :>

I kinda have the same problem, I have a beagle who's racist, he barks at and is angry at anyone with dark skin. I don't know why cuz we got him from a very good breeder

i have 8 dogs which are in two packs because two of the males hate each other, there has been a few times when they fight but for me its easy to pull them apart.
u said you adopted her its all in the history of the dog so basically she hates females cuz she may have been beaten and abused by females
