i've been selfharming almost 7 years.... everytime i stop i'm happy
why is it so addictive??
I know when i cut i feel a sense of relief and it makes me feel so good at the time but ihate that feeling...
i feel so bad afterwards and feel like why the fuck did i just do it...
people call me stupid and attention seeking but i just can't stop....
ever since i was 10 years old i started to cut myself but its gettting worse until i lost control and seriously hurt myself so much i had to ave a blood transfusion...
i just want to stop but i have no control over what i do....
i haven't cut for two months but came close... stole some double edged razors from my dad then tought about the consiquences and returned it...
i just want to know what makes it so addictive

Im not an expert on cutting, and i havent actually cut myself
but
isnt it the fact that its an out from reality
you feel pain and dont think about your life
its a relief from stress and suffering,
then agian i could be 100% wrong, as i dont know much about cutting/self harm

Its addicting because in the moment, you feel great. Think of it as a drug. When you shoot up herion, you may feel AMAZING now, but later you feel terrible about it. Same kind of thing. You feel so great that you want that feeling again and are willing to sacrifice your happiness for that short time of bliss after cutting. Also, there are biological reasons and psychological reasons as to why it feels good which I would site if I could lay my hands on them, but I can't seem to right now. I am in now way endorsing self harm because its a terrible habit to start. But, you CAN stop. If you want to stop, get help. Which I hope and pray you already have. Just be safe. If you ever need anything, feel free to PM me.

its so addciting because of the way you feel,
you feel as if its an escape from the world you live in,
im not saying you hate your life or the people around you but maybe the situations your put in, in everyday life.
hopefully you can overcome this delema and stop completely,
if you cant then try to wean yourself off of it(cut urself less and less) if you didnt know what i meant, eventually you can stop
GOOD LUCK and hope i helped a little,

I've been cutting for years as well. I know how to keep it secret very well though.
I find that it's that "burning sensation" that makes cutting so addictive. I know sounds sick as hell but I love that feeling of burning on your arms and wrists. I don't recommend cutting to ANYONE but as soon as I've done it, I feel relieved and stress-free but at the same time very guilty and regretful.
Cutting is a sense of self-control, if we don't have it in our lives, we resort to something else.

It is very much about the control, curing the numbness and the relief it brings you, but there is a reason for all this. When you cut, it releases endorphin's, the same feel good hormones that are released when you eat chocolate or do heaps of exercise. But it seems that cutting releases a lot more, and much quicker.
So it's a hell of a lot like a drug, and it's easy to develop a psychological addiction to.

Just like everyone else said, it makes you feel good even for a short bit.
It releases endorphins (feel good chemicals) in your brain.
i just want to stop but i have no control over what i do...
Wrong, you have complete control. If you cut it's because you wanted to. Now you're going to say "But I need it". No, you don't, you want that feeling and cutting is the only way (right now) that you know how to get that feeling.
What you need is to find an alternative. You need to find something else that will give you the same feeling as cutting but that doesn't harm you in any way.
But you have control, lots of times cutting is all about control.
