Ok so Ive got a TV in my room, I've had it for years. It's a 12" radio shack manufactured in December 1994. Lately the picture has been fuzzy, very fuzzy on some channels. It just started doing this. I know it's old and I probably need a new one, but my parents will probably not buy me one. What I want to know is what's causing this and if I can fix it myself. It's connected to a VCR and the cable comes straight out of my modem and router. Do I need to have a tv funeral :( or can it be saved?

A fuzzy picture can mean a ton of different things, especially in older CRT TV's.

Hopefully it's just a coxial cable going bad, have you tried replacing the cable you have with one you know for sure works?
Have you tried bypassing the cable modem and/or router, making sure that it's not causing any interference?

If your cable is fine, and the router/modem isn't causing any interference (And other TV's aren't experiencing this issue), then it could be a more serious issue (Such as the electron gun going bad or the focusing/deflection coils going bad), in which case, you can do one of two things. Buy a whole new CRT assembly that will fit in your cabinet (VERY expensive), or buy a new TV (Fairly cheap).

Ride this TV out though, the picture may be a little fuzzy, but that doesn't make it un-watchable, does it?

You can pick up old CRT tv's for next to nothing these days, I know several people who give them away.. it's much cheaper than repairing.

But you don't want to watch it implode as the glass weakens to the point where it breaks? ;)

Fuzzier on some channels more than others means the cable coming to the tv is fucked up somewhere. Try hooking it up on cable on the opposite side of your house. Usually splitters and such go bad and kill the downstream power.
