Because a dildo is like plastic, and usually it's modeled like a penis not scaled like a penis, plus although the penis is usually erect it has a layer of flesh that protect from that sort of pain, or cushion if you will.

In addition to what Greg said, a dildo is normal a lot bigger than a penis. So you could be that you are stretching yourself too much [if it's too thick] or you could be hitting your cervix [if it's too long] which is dangerous and will hurt quite a bit if you have a small frame.

But, it could also be the position you are in. [When standing up straight] the vagina is slanted and it doesn't just go straight up. When you're having sex, the penis will go into a slant... When you use a dildo you can be quite restricted on the position it goes into. It could be that you are trying to use the dildo in a straight up way... So, maybe try a different position or slowly move until it's more comfortable.

In addition to all that. U may want to try pushing ur body onto the dildo, the body's natural response to that is to relax the muscles at that end of the body.

a human penis tends to soften up when the area is to tight.
a dildo doesnt. it stays the same.

Because the dildo is plastic? have you tried to use lube? and is the dildo bigger than the size of the penis of the guy you have sex with?
