As far as I know yea when blood has oxygen in it its red
When there isn't any oxygen in it its blue

Thats why when you look at your wrists the veins are blue not red

....I've had a facination with blood for awhile

Well, when human blood has oxygen, it's usually bright red. When it has low oxygen, it's a very dark red, and when it has none, it can appear to be blue or black.

Though an insect's blood can be a different color, such as green or yellow. It depends on the DNA and how their blood cells are constructed.

j/w is that why our veins are blue, cos the blood is blue but when we bleed tis red?

Our viens appear blue because there is a lack of pure oxygen. This causes the blood to be extremely dark, or blue in some cases. When a vien is cut open, the blood flows out and absorbs the fresh, pure oxygen and becomes bright read. How bright/dark your blood is depends on the amounts of iron and whatnot in your blood.

i swore when we were dissecting frogs last year that the blood wasnt red..i think the blood was blue or white..i dont rele remember

if I take biology in college, I may get to scramble a frogs brain by incerting a needle threw its skull and destroying the brain in a stritigic place. and then when I open the frog, all the insides are still working, neat eh?

So what are you saying? Yes, everyone has a lack of oxygen in the blood inside their viens at every single moment of their life. Is that hard to understand... or am I missing something?

Well sometimes they are not dead.
We are going to be disecting frogs soon, and while its alive, kindof
you stick a needle in the neck which sortof kills the frog but all the organs and shit stay going. The frog should feel no pain.

ok look

Blood in ur body that is in VEINS is BLUE... because its going back to ur lungs to get Oxygen.... once it gets oxygen its red... this is ARTERYS.... u have blue veins on ur wrist and some red vains anywhere on ur body.... just look and im sure ull be able to find one somewhere.... its just ur body uses soo much oxygen... blue seems to be everywhere... once that blue blood hits the air... it turns red because of it touching the O2 in the air....

Some bugs have clear blood and some have black blood....

TheWizard

But what about bugs. If you smash they its yucky yellow. So do they have yellow blood?

Kiros
December 14th, 2005, 06:33 PM
Kind of, yes. Like I explained before, an insect's DNA is far different from ours, so their blood would be different too. Though for the most part, a bug's blood is somewhat translucent while other fluids in it are yellowish. That's why when you smash a bug, it looks that yucky yellow. Get it? :)
