Do you identify yourself as "British" or as belonging to your seperate country?

I find that my dissatisfaction with the state of things in this country is driving me to identify myself as "English" rather than "British". Before, I wouldn't have been bothered. But, I find myself wishing that I could select "English" as my nationality on forms and resent the fact that I can't.

Just thought it would be interesting to see other people's views.

I like the whole 'British' thing, and I talk about myself being British alot.
With all the empire business etc it's great. But sadly, some Scotish politicians as you know wish to break free from Britain's government and have their own.

But I class myself as both, but being English is different to being i.e Welsh or Scottish so...I class myself as both, I talk about being myself as both, British and English as unfortuantly, being British and English is often misconcepted to be the same thing..when it isn't.

Multi-culturalism and foreign workers have their places in society. But, I think that Great Britain has taken it all to an extreme.
Each country has their own identity. By turning as multi-cultural as we have, our national identities have got lost. I would rather ressurect these identities than carry on as we are.

I don't mind British or English because people are part of the British Public after all, I can like the above poster do a variety of accents (and weird talking voices (not that thats really what I psoting about)).
However I think if you were to get a passport or something the you'd have to write something like (lets say this was for me) 'Heritige (soz for my spelling): White British' but in language 'Language: English'
See what I'm getting at?
