Well if you're supposed to use sea salt then use sea salt. Also alcohol probably stings like a bum. So that's not good.

What happens is the alcohol can irritate the skin and make healing take longer. With more irritation comes inflammation and with that comes infection. So, in turn, use sea salt until it's all healed. It won't kill you.

Sea salt? Well, maybe they were thinking, like you do with some mouth cuts, that it somewhat reduces swelling a little, and somewhat reduces some of the sting, temporarily. However, if you've got a lot of swelling or pain, or of you get a fever, get to a doctor b/c thta would indicate an infection, which would require meds.

It's an old wives tale that you should use alcohol (or hydrogen peroxide) on cuts a lot. Yes, they will kill germs, but they also kill/remove the delicate first skin cells that repair the damage. So the harm outweighs the good.

What will work is to clean it with warm H2O and mild soap, or baby oil, and then apply one of those antibiotic creams.

Sea salt is fine. They probably sold you some of that H2Ocean spray? That stuff is pretty much the best for taking care of a new piercing, that's what it's designed for. It's not just sea salt and water (the salt used helps to promote healthy cell regeneration), it also contains lysozome, which is naturally-occurring in your bodily fluids, it helps protect from airborne bacteria. So if the store didn't sell it to you,m or if you just didn't buy it, you can go back and see if they have any. Other than that, like Sam said, you can use warm water and some mild soap. And keep an eye on it. By last Friday, do you mean two days ago, or about a week ago? If it was two days ago, you can expect some soreness and maybe some slight swelling still. If it's been a week, definitely keep Sam's advice in mind, and watch for any new swelling or increasing pain (and of course, that also applies to any time in the coming week, once the initial stuff should wear off). If it turns red, watch to see if it spreads or sticks around for more than a day or so. A doctor can tell you if you need antibiotics or if you can take care of it by cleaning it more often--don't just assume it's not infected though. It would be best to end up having to take it out and close up, versus the infection getting worse and potentially scarring. You can also dab on a little Neosporin or other antibiotic ointment, which can be found in the first aid section of your local drug store and/or grocery store, if you're worried that the wound is getting angry.

Use the sea salt and have a tasty snack while you wash your face :)

okay. i have my eyebrow pierced too and honestly the best stuff that i used was Dial Soap & Neosporin. but remember DO NOT OVERCLEAN you can get infections. simply apply the dial to your eyebrow every night in the shower and when you clean it with the dial get all the crust off. then when you get out apply some of the neosporin to both holes and move the bar up and down so the neosporin gets inside to heal the cut
