Girls, how should I handle this?

I asked the girl of my dreams out last week and she said she doesn't want to go out with me because she has a big crush on someone else older than her. She said she liked me a lot but not as much as him. I can trust her that it is the truth, we would never lie to each other and she still talks to me just like before I asked her. Now I am the only one who knows who she likes and I promised her I wouldn't tell anyone. I really like her but I don't know whether I should leave her alone this winter break, talk to her during break, or call her and ask her to the movies maybe just as friends.

There's no reason to do anything differently than you would have. You said she talks to you like normal so why should you act differently? I definitely say hang out with her as friends. If you start acting differently then it might cause unintended problems.

Just be normal with her as changing the way you are with her could cause problems.
