I've never posted anything like this before and I doubt it will be any good. But first let me introduce myself, I'm fifteen, I reside in the boring state New York as anyone here would think the same, I'm a very common teen and my life is wrapped around friends.
Cute intro huh? :P
Well to get started... I have been depressed myself, the following tips I am going to talk about really helped me, and getting me through my "hard times." I am not a genius when it comes to this stuff, I have no degree in psychology, but I have been there I know what its like.
Onward to victory? :yeah:
(Because I have a case of what i like to call some-what O.C.D. I am going to have to keep this organized :D)
E()=3 <-- It's a bunny :D
Back to the matter at hand
Tip #1
Well probably one of the biggest things that helped me was to be ACCEPTING OF YOURSELF. I was "chubby" in my middle school days, and as of always the cruelty of people never let me forget it (Who likes those "preps" anyways?). But I learned that the kind of person I am is really made up of who I am personally on the inside. I used this new found knowledge to shape who I was personally. You should never change yourself to fit in.
Tip #2
Another big something that "cured" me was TALKING TO SOMEONE. Let me first off say someone can also include pets. (They are amazing listeners and can "understand" what your saying through the mood you give off to them and lets them decide to comfort you or play with you.) Talking to someone and letting yourself vent is a great way to release that negative "brain activity."
Tip #3
A very common over looked aspect of depression is PHYSICAL SURROUNDINGS. Your surroundings greatly affect your moods/feelings. For example a dark damp play makes you feel sad and a theme park makes you happy. (Duh right? :D) So whenever your starting to feel down turn on a light and watch a funny movie.
Tip #4
While were on the topic of surroundings lets go with THE PEOPLE YOU HANGOUT WITH. They greatly influence how you feel about yourself, make sure your hanging around people that give off a positive wave to you. If you hangout with the wrong people how will that help you feel better? What I mean is if you hangout with people who "dis" you all the time, its not going to make you feel good about yourself, right? So, if the people your hanging out with doesn't match the criteria of curing your depression, change is in order.
I realize this isn't a whole arsenal of tips but just following what i think are important can get a good kick start to a happier lifestyle. :D:P
