What are you views on cheating? Do you think it can be justified? Do you think it is terrible? Do you do it? Idk, just tlak about it.

Most kids that I know cheat usually get caught because they're not the brightest kids in the world. I don't see a problem with it, y'know, whatever gets them by.

I'll cheat occasionally by typing stuff on my calculator or writing on my desk or writing on a sheet of paper. Helps to get someone nearby you to leave their notes open during a test, too.

I have respect for the kids who can cheat their way through everything, enough respect to not really care about the ethics of it.

Cheating is fine in the right situation. And that's only when the situation is not serious or gambling etc...

So really, cheating is fine only when it's the right time to do so.
Of course I hate it when someone does it to me, but when I do it, I don't call it cheating, I call it 'Using my initative'.

Apart from that, I hate cheating. :D

If anyone else cheats, I'm disgusted. Lol.
I used to be terrible for cheating, I'm not anymore though, was funny when people caught me though :P

I don't really appreciate it. I took a test once, got a 100, but since the teacher found out everyone cheated, she thought I cheated, even though I didn't. I actually studied.

I hate cheaters. I've let people cheat off me, and haven't really liked it, but I never really gave a damn. I haven't cheated since like third grade, though most teachers assume when I ace their tests that I must have cheated because of how I dress, how I act, etc... :/ But yeah... 0.o I despise cheating, though there are certain RARE instances where cheating isn't necessarily a bad thing. But cheating does get you nowhere in life, because after you cheat on all those tests and everyone thinks you're a super genius and you get an incredibly high-paying job for someone who's extremely well-educated (think high-end lawyer/doctor/etc.) you'll be completely incompetent and have no idea what you're doing and you'll get fucked. The only exception is politician. With enough money and an IQ of at least 1, you can be a successful politician.

Ive never cheated on tests/quizzes/etc.
But I really don't care about copying someones homework

Anyways, what most kids forget, is that a test is made to measure how well you do... Not measure how well you read someone elses paper. If you get a bad grade, you should get a tutor, because you don't understand it. Thats also why i think its stupid when parents punish kids for doing bad of quizzes... How will that help them learn the material?
And on homework, its meant to help you understand. If you copy, it will only affect what you know. Cheating on it will only hurt you

I agree with everything here. Every single thing, especially the politician part.

I've cheated before but only when it was either pass or fail. I've also copied homework when I didn't have enough time to finish it.

Cheating does not mean copying. Cheating means using other means that the teacher has not said you could use, to advance your score. Such as cheat sheets, writings on desks, writing on yourself (don't advise), signalling etc.

December 20th, 2008, 09:05 PM
^^ So thus by your logic copying someone more intelligent than you is cheating, but copying someone less intelligent is not? Its cheating if its fabricating your score by not displaying your true intelligence or by using unconventional/disallowed means of acquiring correct (or incorrect) answers. It doesn't necessarily have to improve your score for it to be cheating.

Atonement

Well true, but in the intention to improve your scores.

Underground_Network

^^Yes, that is very much true... Though it would technically still be "cheating" if you intentionally copied someone's scores with the intention of lowering your grade, but I don't know of anyone who would do that. 0.o

Lets see... what means have I used...

- Cheat note cards
- Using book
- Programming calculator
- Sign Language
- Blatently talking
- Copying (duh)
- Written on desk
- Used notes (was an essay test, wrote essay in my notebook with all the notes on the next couple pages)
- Copied Key

Now, I am a good student. Like, I don't NEED to cheat. But, I get so anxious that I don't know everything that I feel the need to so I don't fuck up. Often I make a cheat sheet just to make myself rest assured that I have what I need to make sure I do well.

Hmm, come to think of it everyone in my Spanish class (myself included) cheats on their tests, but we do it blatantly and our teacher is literally too stupid to stop us. We just ask each other (loudly) answers to different questions lol. But then again the class average in that class is in the C-D range. We're not very good cheaters I guess. ;)

Though I am getting an A in that class, but that's just because I'm pretty good when it comes to Spanish and I don't really need to cheat, though I'll accept an answer that I wasn't thinking of that someone randomly blurts out in class. I mean, is it really cheating if you weren't anticipating it? (that's a rhetorical question) 0.o

I don't care, they're only hurting themselves.

It's tempting,
Most of us have done it before,
Including myself.

My favorite method would have to be typing up a list of information in a very small font and pinning it to the inside of a zip-up or button-down shirt.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's bad to cheat,
But in a system that's driven by GPA and regurgitating information,
Rather than insight and actual intelligence,
It's just too damn tempting.

I make about 90% of all my own work in science class and I'm getting a 98% in that class. I never do any of the homework, hell, I've left entire work booklets blank, but I don't care. I know this stuff already, my test marks reflect that, I just have no desire to waste time doing homework.

I used to do it. When I started a new school in the eighth grade, I WAS the cheat sheet for the entire class. In my eighth grade English class, I was the only person that could read higher than a fourth grade level. In my math class, I was the only one who knew how to do long multiplication or use grids.

It's sad.

Fine. I admit.. last year i cheeted a lot.

It's why i'm in honors this year

and why i'm in waaaayy over my head this year.

I don't ever recommend it.
I had access to the teachers guides, and therefore the answer keys. If i was totaly lost, i used them and worked backwards. There is SO much algebra 1 that i don't know. I never had decent english skills to begin with. Frankly, my best subject in understanding the subject matter is history, because it's all review from 6th grade, with some things added in.

I don't think there is any situation that you *can* justifiy cheeting on anything. Frankly. it screws you up for later... Well no i can think of one thing.
Book Summaries. If you read the book, and don't understand it at all, a summary can be helpful. Just don't copy the essay

I think that people are only hurting themselves by cheating.

I've gotten answers on homework before.

Never cheated on a test though. People cheat off of me a lot. I do attempt and cover my answers. My friend Lucas once told me after a French test "I copied off your test. I think you got a few wrong." I didn't care at that point, because he has one of the highest averages in the class along with me and a few other people.

I do mind people cheating. One of GCSE papers was nearly recalled becuase someone had a draft SMS on their phone with the answers on (it was found before the exam was officially started so phew!)

I think cheaters should be punished becuase if they are not it promotes the act, and can lower the schools reputation if it spreads! Plus its stupid.... you always get found out when people think you are smarter than you are. AND people don't realise how easy it is to find a cheater when you have a group of answers and a seating plan infront of you!

I've copied people's homework before because I'm lazy, but I've never cheated on a test.

Hey, I've learned things in class BY cheating and pretty much everyone in all of my classes cheat some way or another if they need to, why not? As long as you still learn the stuff that your copying, its alright.

If someone was taking a test and they couldn't remember one answer, and this one answer would mean passing or failing and they had a chance to pass by cheating, they would most likely cheat. If knowing you took the test honestly by not cheating, even though you had a chance to, but failing instead to most people doesn't make sense.

I've never been caught. I've known ONE person in my school thats been caught. They raised there hand to ask a question and their sleeve fell down to reveal a inked up arm. lol

Haha thats never happened to me before and I've written stuff on my hands, luckily it was only letters and not actual words so yeah :] I usually have a hoodie with me anyways.

My favorite method would have to be typing up a list of information in a very small font and pinning it to the inside of a zip-up or button-down shirt.

Huh....never heard of that one lol I know having like a tiny piece of paper with the answers on it.

One that I DO wanna try just because I think it's just ingenious is you take like a Vitamin Water bottle, peel off the paper and scan it into a computer. Put important things on the paper where the writing usually is like on the Nutrition Facts, or for Vitamin Water bottles, the descriptions they have for the name of the drink, print it out on high quality paper so that it has that shine to it and glue it back on. How AMAZING is that? lol and, even though I don't need to copy in the class, every morning I seem to always have a Vitamin Water bottle with me on the table. I think I'm addicted O.O

I'm not a big fan of cheating...I've never cheated on a test/quiz/exam/whatever.
I basically agree with Nick and Adam on things. I've copied math homework and stuff like that, but that's pretty much just completion type things anyway. I've let a few people cheat off me on tests before, but I'm not fond of it.

One dumbass in my class got caught with the whole study guide on his fricken lap during a history test. The WHOLE sheet of paper. Our history teacher actually caught two people that test...funny stuff. He's hilarious.

As far as cheating goes though its the most stupid idea... If you must cheat at least be a bit creative. I think id be harsher with people who just put paper on their knee rather than doing something clever.

my math tests in 7th grade weren't so bad because my teacher used to step out of the room all the time. i'd simply go sit at her desk and copy everything out of her manual. i was good to her face, so when people tried to rat me out, she didn't believe them. the class period was 90 minutes, and during test times, she'd often leave for most of it.

well i've cheated before, but it's kinda hard to do sometimes, so I decide to actually know what I'm supposed to know and then I'll be fine and won't have to cheat.

But as far as copying homework, sometimes it's absolutely essential to earn even a B. So, I copy homework when I competely brain fart, or I am incredibly busy that night, etc.

ya its wrong but it depends on the situation like sometimes it cant be helped. for instance. if a person is feeling that the relationship is over and nothing can be done and they have feelings for someone who makes moves on them then or influenced by alchohal than its still not right, but its understandable..but still its wrong...overall its wrong! and there is no accuse for it

The most I will cheat on is copying someone's homework, which I don't see as a bid deal as all. I mean, the only person you're really screwing over is yourself if you don't actually understand the material. But if you do understand and just don't feel like doing busy work?

"Hey, man, can I see your homework...."

Thats possibly the stupidest thing ive ever heard. No matter what your situation you should never cheat. They set homework for a reason. Its to test if you know the stuff. If you dont then they can sort it... if you do then its to revise so you dont forget it.

Cheating is cheating
Everyone knows cheating is wrong; however, the thing I don't understand is why do people cheat.
