Well I know this probably isn't going to happen, but I think it would be really helpful, as a lot of people probably face the same problem as me and this is a quick solution.
Have you ever suspected your parents or family look at what you write on VT?
This is one of the reasons why I haven't posted a picture, and some other more personal stuff.
I think there should be an option for your posts to only display the post to members with 50 or 100 posts, so that someone(parent, schoolmate ect.) can't just look up what you posted and match it to your picture, or look at personal stuff.
It would work something like this:
**your pic,text w/e**
That way your entire post wouldn't have to be hidden, just the stuff you choose.

That could work, but
1) I'm not sure if that's possible with vBulletin.
2) It'd make the Introductions forum a mess. "Why is no one saying hello? D:"

I think I get what you mean, but completely imposible (or certainly extremely difficult and time consuming) to make it work.
Remember the white padded room is members only, so they cant see what you post there.

That would make the forum almost completely private. What happens if someone makes a posts and the guests can't see it? Or even other members? It would be a big problem.

This internet is a public place that anyone can access and read. Therefore if you don't want someone to see something you posted online, you shouldn't post it. If they are really interested on what you have to say the post count won't stop them. It is fairly easy to make 100 posts.
Also if someone quotes your post then it is made public anyway. There are too many loopholes to really make this work and there isn't a lot of benefit to this. My advice is to NOT post something you aren't comfortable with being discovered. Either that or take the risk and do your best to keep this website a secret.

I try Ant.
I have the same problem as the thread poster, but after being caught on VT twice, i have learned to clear certain parts of the history that contain anything that has to do with VT. and i only come on when parents arent home or its a weekend and its the middle of night. and if thats not enough, just post it in the TWPR.

I really like this idea, like a lot. But I understand both sides. It would be awesome if we could restrict parts of the site to only members with x amount of posts. I mean, if someone here wants to post, but are afraid that their real life will find out, they won't post and just leave.
I don't think that this tool should be allowed in P101 nor General Discussion (parts at least) But, I think it would be amazing in TWPR and the Psych ward.

It's best just to delete the history when you are done on the computer. They won't know you come on here if the history is empty.

Or there could be an option [like a poll] saying 'Would you like this thread private? 100 post restrict o 200 post restrict o etc. post restrict
But I agree with Ant. It would be hard (cost money probably), it might be 'too private', its easy to make that amount of posts, and after all, it is the internet. If you choose to post something you should be prepared to have everyone in the world look at it and know its you who posted it.

Whilst i don't mind the consept in twpr, having it in psych ward might be a problem, because people brouse the site, and if that forum looks "empty", people might not join who would otherwhise benifit

TWPR was made member only to incite guests to join
not for privacy reasons
its like 6 seconds to make an account

that would be nice to have the restrict feature

Does anyone else think that some people will be put off by restricted areas/threads?
IMO it could come across as unwelcoming and almost stand-offish.

I think people need to realise this is the internet. Anyone is free to read what you put here, you make the choice to decide whether or not you do so.
