The battery is dead. This is most likely caused by leaving it in hibernate and not charging it for a while, thus letting it drain completely; I've gone through two batteries on my school laptop already, it happens a lot.

The cells in the battery have died. You need to buy a new battery.
You can prevent this by charging the battery full and then letting it run out, otherwise known as a "cycle."

I've left my laptop in hibernate for weeks on the battery and it's not affected it.

How many cells does it have? I'm guessing it's not a standard 6-cell...
Also, ctrl.alt.the_leet, his battery isn't dead -.- I wish people would read before posting...
