I've been taking minocycline for my acne for the past half year and it does seem to be working but it doesn't help enough to the point where I don't have close to any acne. I was wondering if taking 200mg of minocycline, I usually take 1 pill of 100mg every day, would help make my acne better?

Do not take an amount of a perscribed medicine without consulting your doctor first. But, increasing your dosage could dry out your skin and such. So, if its not working, see your doctor and ask if there are other options.

I also take that, and it works a little. I also use medicated face wash and two different creams (one in the morning, one at night). I take the minocylcline twice a day. Have you ever tried a higher dose? I'd ask your dermatologist/doctor if you can go on a testing period and see if that works.

Don't just take it, make sure you ask the doctor first.
It's never good to overdose, even on something as simple as that. It affects hormones, I believe, and that's how it decreases acne. Imbalance in hormones may mess you up.

Yeah I was just going to go and ask my doctor if I could maybe get a higher dosage or maybe something else.
I also use this...gel I guess that drys out my skin super fast. It's tretinoin gel (.01%) and I use it sometimes but my skin is usually dry after taking a shower where I would usually put the gel on after. Just about a week and a half ago, my skin had gotten SO dried out that my cheeks start to turn red and my skin starts to burn. It's happened before when I did something really stupid but the only way for it to stop burning is if I put some lotion on my face. I had taken a shower and then used the Pro Activ "Renewing Cleanser" and then put on the gel.

I use Differin and Retina A. Have you ever tried those?

Nope I've never tried differin, I'll ask my doctor about then whenever I go.
Oh and did you mean to say Retin A?
Retin A is actually another name for Tretinoin Gel. What percentage are you using?

I had particularly bad acne while growing up (under the skin, on the back, chest, etc) and I was prescribed isotretinoin (aka accutane).
now I don't know how bad your case is, but accutane is extremely effective and killed off my acne in like a few months. since finishing the treatment I haven't had any acne.
doctors prescribe it only to grave cases and it's easy to know why once you look at secondary effects. personally my eyes and skin were so dry it was very uncomfortable, and I also got hit with the rare side effect of decreased night vision - permanently.
if your acne is really, really bad, I'd ask my doctor about it. but that's really something to think through.
