Yes, it's time for another moral dilemma :D

-----------------------------

You have a wonderful daughter. She is 8 years old and has always been a happy outgoing child. But a while ago something terrible happened, she was raped. You are quite sure that the person who raped her is your neighbor. Your daughter is so traumatized she has stopped speaking, but she in other ways been able to convince you that he is the one. Unfortunately not enough evidence can be found to convict him.

You try to put your life back together. You move to another house and try to help your daughter in any way you can, but it is clear that the experience has ruined her life and that of your family.

One evening you have taken your spouse out to dinner at a restaurant when you spot your former neighbor at another table. He is eating alone and looks unhappy. You quickly finish eating and leave. The next day you find out that your former neighbors wife has been murdered. Enough evidence to convict him of the murder is soon found, and at first you are very happy, finally his will get what he deserves.

But then you remember that you saw him in the restaurant at the time of the murder. you know he did not murder his wife. Maybe he paid someone else to do it… You remember that the police said that it had been made it look like a burglary, maybe it was…

You sit down to think. If you keep quiet he will be convicted for the murder, and the real murderer will go free If you give him an alibi, he will go free, but you can’t be sure the real murderer will be found, and it is possible that the evil bastard paid someone to do it… What do you do?

No I wouldn't because I would have killed him long before he had a chance to hurt his wife or be suspected of hurting his wife
And then me and my daughter would be living in Columbia where we'd be safe from extradition

Yes, but the circumstances are that he's NOT dead.

I would keep my mouth shut.
I was never there, i didn't notice him.

The real murder, well, yeah he should be punished too. But, i think the rapist is more deserving of whatever punishment comes his way

I wouldn't tell.
Assuming I hadn't killed the bastard myself already,
He's getting what would have came to him had he been convicted of raping my daughter.

I would tell, I would appear in court and tell the judge were he was at the time of the murder. Then I would say though I want to sue him for raping my daughter.

But you're also letting the true killer roam free. I personally rape is worse than murder, however, so I'd just keep my mouth shut.

@ Greg: You don't SUE because of a rape, first of all, and second, it's a little too late...this is under the circumstances that nobody will find out about your daughter, no matter what.

Well I didn't know that no need to get hostile. Then yes, I would have him put away.

I'd let him be falsely accused, because he got away with something just as bad.

I would have to tell them if I didn't then it would eat me up inside that he's rotting in jail while someone else could be getting murdered by the same guy. Also I probably would have said something to him at the restaurant so the police would have questioned me anyway.

I'd go to the police. Say that my daughter was raped and I believe that he did it.
Also, I'd say that I saw him in the restuarant that night so he couldn't of done it himself.

But I'd make sure that even if he did pay someone to do it, he went down for the rape.

Who's being hostile? I'm just 'splainin' =P

Um, I don't know how he would still be alive after doing something to my daughter. Pretty sure he would've been dead long before he could touch his wife.

No, he'll get life. All that's needed. Deserves it..

If I were asked, I wouldn't lie. But I wouldn't voluntarily offer the information either. The only thing that would worry me would be the still-at-large real murderer; other than that I couldn't care less about the rapist neighbour. He would end up where he deserved to be.

Yes I would tell the police about him in the restaurant
It was my fault for not telling the police about him raping my daughter,
And no one should be convicted of something they didn't do

I totally agree.

And why does this scenario sound like something taken out of a fictional novel?

Because I'm such an awesome writer?

Found it on the internet, thought you guys would like to mull over it since ROTW seems to center around religion lately and it's getting old :P

He deserves worse than what he's getting for murder >:(

Rape is one thing, but an 8 year old?!?! That's ruining lives!!! He deserves to be tortured for a decade, then put back into society. %[email protected]#er....

Lol exactly if in reality someone would rape my daughter and I'd think I knew who did it.. I doubt it would take me more than 2 seconds of thought to go knocking on their door with the intention of breaking their neck

If someone raped my daughter, or any of my children for that matter, I'd shove a telephone pole up their ass and lop their head off with a dull kitchen knife.
No need for more clarification, imo.
