View Full Version : Marijuana: Medicine/Recreational or Criminal

Completely Lost

In the past recent news, there has been tons of controversy on the Drug War, particularly, Marijuana..

Since the early times, people have been using marijuana for not only medicinal, religious and spiritual values, but for industrial uses, such as rope, clothing, etc, etc..

My question is, do you think it is alright for marijuanas current demonized figure. Or do you believe that it should be legal for people to use because the decision is ultimately theirs and no one should be able to tell them what substance to allow in their body. I DO understand the somewhat biased opinions on marijuana and allow people to be opinionated, whether it be pro or anti. Please do not flame me, all opinions are accepted, I'm just curious to know yours.

I understand laws that create fairness and equality within, but do not understand how something as this can be criminalized. If someone chooses to smoke marijuana whether that be for medicinal or recreational reasons, who is to tell that person what is right and wrong, the only thing wrong with marijuana is the people who sell it.. dangerous criminals/gangs looking to get a slice of the cake we today call money..

One thing I do want to add is, do you really feel that marijuana prohibition should ruin someones life. That the charges pressed against people for choosing their own is justice.. Freedom..

Marijuana is naturally occuring

Cocaine is not natural
Heroine is not natural
The strong opiates prescribed for pain are not natural..
Antidepressants are not natural..

My personal opinion.. Marijuana is solely criminalized because there is not a way to tax it, and no way to patent a natural plant..

I'd love to hear yours :D:D

(I did not add anything about alcohol or tobacco because I thought it was futile, although tobacco kills 400,000 a year and alcohol over 80,000 a year **cough**)

I know LOTS of facts about this. I don't want to type them all, but a couple important ones.

Marijuana doesn't cause cancer. It's all bull.

Marijuana is not addictive. The only addiction is mental, which is when you want it simply because how much fun it was and how good it felt. A chemical addiction takes many many years to develop.

It DOES, however, harm your brain. It DOESN'T kill brain cells. It simply weakens the links between them. Stopping smoking Marijuana lets these connections replenish.

Marijuana can dehydrate you, and that can kill brain cells. Basically the same as alcohol, drink water too.

It's impossible to overdose. You can overdose on nicotine and alcohol, but no one in history has ever overdosed THC. Well no one has ever injected themselves with pure THC either :)

Yes, tax is actually one of the biggest reasons. It's been admitted by some large political leaders in the past.

Pure THC is injected in lab studies all the time.

Marijuana has no negative health effects. None. The smoke from smoking it may, but oral marijuana has no negative health effects. It is still illegal, so don't do it. Easy.

Industrial hemp should be legal because it can be used for paper and some of the most durable clothing. Plus, the crop is taxable. And, the crime associated with marijuana production could be cut down by decriminalization. As for being legal at a certain age, I see no point. Why put an age on it if it doesn't harm?

I meant in really high doses. Which they have put high doses, just not real extreme.

Yea you can make it into butter and stuff.... But the THC still weakens the links between your brain cells. Not using it for 28 days completely restores it in a person that's been smoking for 10+ years. Sweet :)

Yea it makes great... Everything pretty much! And it can be grown just about anywhere. Age? Because people will smoke it more than eat it, which is harmful. Just like cigarettes you are old enough to decide, legal adult, etc.

We could always use Vapos?

Im leaning towards medical purposes only
Theres no point in making any drug legal,
It only hurts when used without moderation, helps minimally

I think it should be decriminalized, as should alcohol and tobacco. Drugs are pointless and stupid. I feel the negatives outweigh the benefits.

HOWEVER, since tobacco and alcohol are legal, pot should also be, since it is safer than them. It's still not safe, but it's better than those two legal drugs.

you are 100% right.

for example,
Do pizzas need to be banned because some people are addicted to pizzas?

I think marijuana should be decriminalized. Because I feel that would make it better for everyone, including dealers. If our government legalized marijuana they will make it illegal to grow and tax the shit out of it. I'm for medical marijuana as well, I think everyone can use a little MJ time to time :P. When Obama decriminalizes marijuana like he said he would do, then we'll all be happy. Dealers will be happy, and us smokers will be happy too. :)

You guys are completely wrong about it not harming you, if smoked every few days it DOES screw you up. I know barely any people NOW smoke marijuana every day, but when it becomes legalised it'll bring in a whole new type of pack-a-day smokers.

I don't really understand how cutting down crime rates would be beneficial. If you decriminalized assault, robbery and murder it would have the same effect. Also, being natural really has nothing to do with how harmful something is. You know Cocaine is derived from the coca PLANT?

Meh, as much as I personally would like to see this happen there's too many arguments against it for it to be realistic.
