In late 2008, faced with the worst economic crises since 1928, and decades of inefficiencies and uncompetitiveness, General Motors is facing bankruptcy. General Motors will attempt to persuade the U.S government at the 11th hour on Tuesday, December 2, 2008, to give it a "bridge loan" for an amount estimated to be between 8 and 12 billion dollars. GM estimates it's current cash burn to be approximately 5 to 6 billion dollars per month. A "bridge-loan" would only provide liquidity for approximately 2 months. Another possibility is for a prepackaged bankruptcy which would allow GM to restructure its costly dealership network, break the UAW union, and the ability to modify debt costly covenants.

I really hope GM don't die, it would be a very sad end of a huge era!

Out with the old and in with the new. Let GM go bankrupt and allow a new and better car company to emerge. It doesn't make sense to give good capital (money) from productive means to a failing one.

Ah, I love to watch GM suffer as Toyota does seemingly well in this economy.

Thats because toytoa is far more streamlined
not to mention they started working on hybrid synergy drive years and years ago
When GM refused to change and instead came out with bigger and bigger gas guzzling vehicles across the line that all look exactly the same just a few minor cosmetic changes

at first i really didn't want them to die
but now I agree with Ant
Fuck'em!!

You should agree with me more often. ;)

Especially if you care about the environment (barf). GM was the company that pulled the plug on the electric car.

And by that time Toyota will have it's Hybrid Sienna out. Crushing the competition.

Hyrids are shit! The current ones are anyway! They claim 55mpg? You can easily get 80mpg out of a 1.4 diesel that has more power than the hybrid!

GM have made some amazing cars though, and they will be staying at least :)
